Cheat Sheet on Science channel

The Science channel is starting a new series in April called Cheat Sheet. It's hosted by Michio Kaku. It could be promising.

Every episode of Cheat Sheet gives you everything you need to know about one high concept science subject. Each episode will be fast-paced and entertaining but will also break the concepts down to the simplest parts.

These are the science ideas and facts that everyone should know, things you once learned but hardly remember. Give us half an hour and we'll get you up to speed.

It can be done - I saw a scientist demonstrate to concept of wave resonance in quantum physics using two volunteers and a skipping rope.

Everything you need to know.... to do what? To hold a conversation with a scientist? Impress your friends? Close out a category on Jeopardy? These are all different levels of knowledge, which would take different amounts of time and strategy to explain.

And when it takes five minutes to explain that, it would seem that not much will be covered in the 42 minutes of programming given to the whole topic.

Oh come now- it doesn't even take 5 minutes to teach someone all about string theory...

I've had more than enough of Kaku.

He can be annoying at times, but he's also done some good stuff. His miniseries about the nature of time was good. But then he does something like Sci Fi Science that was mostly silliness.

Every physics documentary ever produced since the last few years is about string theory, and each includes at least half an hour of Michio Kaku talking about it.
