Chavez jumps the shark

well, you do frequent a skeptics forum, in the CT section, specifically for the purposes of debunking stuff (I thought) ?

but then refuse to look at it?

nothing personal against you or anybody about this, I just don't get why videos are so looked down on here, I would far rather press play and watch / listen for a few minutes than plough through pages of writing, personally.

I mean if its a carefully crafted 911 vid with sneaky emotional music and crafty editing that's one thing, but a straight video of a live debate, news appearance or speech?

Because experience has shown YouTube links to be the crutch of someone who doesn't know what they are talking about and can't explain their position. CT are held emotionally and a forcefully presented video with a few loud sound effects and some CGI are more convincing to a CT believer than cold hard facts in black and white.

Out of a twenty minute "straight video of a live debate" there might be two minutes of actual text to consider. Of those two minutes, you could read them in far less time and/or have someone explain to you in their own words what they think it means. It is their claim in the first place, you'd think they could explain themselves. Often times, they can't because they are only parroting a video.

IMHO: Rational skeptics do not need a rousing stump speech or itinerant revival preacher to convince them of the facts. The facts convince of themselves. I can explain the facts and science of evolution, 9/11, Moon Landing, JFK, etc... without resorting to pixilated over-compressed fantasy videos.

Its weird that that a lot people I know that look up to him as some of warrior of light and justice. Completly ignoring the fact that he is a complete and utter nutter.

I suspect it due mostly to his reputation of "sticking it to the man" more than his reputation as a diplomat.

The BBC is reporting the Argentine President did not have cancer after all.

Well to be fair, if he hadn't died from that exploding cigar he probably would have gotten lung cancer anyway.
;)

Why don't you stop wasting our time? No need to watch a video, I promise.

A proposal:

We secretly inject random world leaders with 137Cs thus increasing their chance for cancer over the next twenty years by 15%. I will need a black budget of $85 million for fast cars supplies and eastern european whores staff.
