Blow is...absolutely correct, as should be clear to anyone who has paid the slightest attention to Trump over the past one or more days.

Is he better than Sean Hannity? Well, obviously he is, most people are.

This Levell guy comes off as a real jerk and Blow seems evasive. I can't draw any larger conclusions about the New York Times or Sean Hannity after reading that.

I guess you really have to watch the video. It's not Blow's evasion that's the problem. It's his over-the-top incivility and wild, desperate, and completely unsupported claims. He just seems so emotional and irrational. He asks Don Lemon of Levell "Who is this guy, and why is he on TV?" If I didn't actually know a lot about the New York Times other than its journalistic reputation, I would be asking myself a similar question about why Charles Blow is a columnist there. But I do, so I don't need to.

Again, it's not as if Trump's bigotry weren't widely known and plainly obvious at the time of the interview. And since Blow is not a member posting here, he technically broke no rules at all - and I see no need for him to respect the other guy, any more than Buzz Aldrin should have respected some moon hoax theorist.

It's the old right-wing trick: spout stupid crap until someone treats you like the tool you are, then complain that they are unhinged...

When Latinos, African Americans and minorities point out that they are still being mistreated and discriminated against, (which they are) the right wingers try saying that the ones pointing it out are the ones being divisive and racist.

As if after a hundred years of blatant systemic racism ended with Civil Rights Act of 1964. As if that cured all the nation's ills. Never mind that there are still huge divides.

One of my favorite arguments made by the right wing today is that the problem with the big cities are the Democratic mayors and not white flight which also took the green $$$ with it. I don't care who runs a city if it doesn't have a tax base.

And since schools and almost everything locally is funded through property taxes, it's hard if not impossible to improve the situation. Just ask all the white people in West Virginia.

Again, it's not as if Trump's bigotry weren't widely known and plainly obvious at the time of the interview.

Alright, since Trump's bigotry is widely known and plainly obvious, educate me. What racist things has Trump said about African-Americans?

Or in this case, just be rude. Blow himself has said that he was fine letting the other guy blather on with his nonsense and sit quietly, but once the guy showed that he wouldn't even grant him the same courtesy back, the gloves came off.

He tweeted grossly false statistics about black crime, copied from a neo-nazi source, and didn't retract even when debunked, to name one example.

Birtherism. To the point of the first black president have his birth state deliver his vault copy birth certificate.

If that's not good enough, I'll discuss no further.

He has also attacked the protest group Black Lives Matter. This is from a CNN report last month following an appearance by Trump on Fox TV with Bill O'Reilly:
Donald Trump said Monday he believes the Black Lives Matter movement has in some cases helped instigate the recent killings of police officers, and suggested he might direct his future attorney general to investigate the civil rights activist group.

"Certainly, in certain instances they are," Trump told Fox News host Bill O'Reilly when he asked whether the group has been "a fuse-lighter in the assassinations of these police officers."

To be asked by someone like Bill O'Reilly whether BLM is a "fuse-lighter" in getting police killed and answer in the affirmative is incendiary. Weren't the killers identified; was there any credible evidence linking them to BLM? There wasn't. To suggest there was is red meat for the reactionary right. In that sense it is racist and I don't think someone like, say Romney or McCain or Bush would have answered that way.

Didn't he refer to a black guy as "my African-American"? You can say it was a slip of the tongue but I'd be more prone to calling it a Freudian slip. I say that based on his body of work, not just on this one comment. He's said terrible things about Muslims (and Middle Easterners), Mexicans, implied Jews understand him because he makes deals, and as newyorkguy just posted, BLM as well. There's no reason to think that he didn't say what he meant instead of what he should have said. The guy is garbage.

Anyway.

The subject at hand was "Charles Blow blows up." I don't think that's actually true. He wasn't screaming, he seemed to be choosing his words carefully enough. He was also pretty clear to point out his contempt for Levell.

It feels familiar, for some reason...

Worst Debate Tactic Ever

You mean like in the 80s where he said that the deck was so stacked that he'd probably like to be a young black man starting out because he could get a leg-up with all the programs assisting them? Does that count?

Or becoming the spokes-model and stalking horse for the birthers? Do you want to count that.

How about the Trump-confirmed, then Trump-denied: "Besides that, I tell you something else. I think that’s guy’s lazy. And it’s probably not his fault because laziness is a trait in blacks."

His history of having to be forced by the government to stop discriminating against blacks and other minorities in his renting/selling practices?

His personally paid for attack ads on the Central Park Five? His doubling down after they were exonerated... "What were they doing at that hour in Central Park - They weren't playing checkers." The underlying assumption there is breath-taking in its privilege and arrogance. These guys had just been freed based on DNA results, there was an investigation into the police tactics in managing to extract confessions from them, and Trump is asserting that they're still guilty of something so he was right to attack them at the outset.

But other than all that, what have the Romans done for us?

Should I interpret your silence to mean that you're satisfied by the examples provided?
