I've just been watching Tony Robinson's demolition of Dan Brown's most recent twaddle on Channel 4 (UK TV), and was intrigued to see one of the Psyleron random number generators (Psyleron is a spin-off from PEAR) being used in an experiment in which Robinson tried to influence the RNG. According to the caption the experiment was conducted by one Dr Richard Broughton, at the University of Northampton, UK. I looked him up and came upon this interesting group:

Needless to say, Robinson showed no paranormal abilities. We next saw someone involved in what was obviously a Ganzfeld experiment. Apparently, Brown claims that Freemasons possess paranormal powers, hence the relevance of this stuff to the programme.

The CSAPP group claims to be the largest university-based centre in the world working in this area. The "research" isn't being funded by the taxpayer, which is a point in its favour.

It's a shame it couldn't be a Center for Researching Anomalous Psychological Processes. The acronym would be so much more appropriate.

As someone who studied "proper" psychology, I feel that psychologists like Roe and Broughton give the subject a bad name.

But of course Freemasons possess Ganzfeldian paranormal powers. We all do. We all have the ability to influence RNGs at a level so small that it is indistinguishable from chance.
