CCW holder killed reaching for ID.

While most older Westerns don't show the characters checking their guns, that's why they'd put such dramatic emphasis on the characters showing their gun, inside their coat or whatever. The implied subtext was "I am landing myself in deep crap just for showing I have this weapon, all to properly convey to you how utterly pissed off I am. It will not take much more to get me to use it."

We know why it did it in Ferguson, because events brought it to their attention. I agree with Goldie Taylor that much of the county looks iffy. There is pretty strong circumstantial evidence on the vehicle stop data that Missouri requires all its police forces to collect - by that measure, Ferguson was *better* than the County or State average.

In Ferguson in 2015, Blacks were 1.39 times more likely to be stopped than whites, the average in Missouri as a whole was 1.61 times.


We know that Judge Brockmeyer had roles in many other municipalities, and he behaved corruptly in Ferguson, (voiding traffic citations for friends, for example).

Personally, I think the smallest police force should be at county level or larger. I can understand how that might be difficult to square with the whole federalist philosophy, but for sufficient oversight, efficiency, and reduced susceptibility to corruption one needs at least hundreds of officers not the 8,800 police forces that employed fewer than ten officers in 2008:

Which makes me wonder. Is that person still a judge? Are those aiding him, and/or participating in it still in theor jobs?

If yes, how is that even possible? How could it be that a judge, or state attorney, or whatever, can bend the law and still be in his/her position? After all, they very clearly showed that they are utterly unfit when it comes to upholding the law.

I would strongly support this. I would support a tax hike to make this possible.

Holding our authorities to account for their behavior is always a good thing.
 
OK, so he resigned. What consequences did that have? Like, pension etc. What about the others involved?

From Germany (where i live), "resigned" for such people usualy means "Don't care, i get my pensions, and you couldn't officially blame me for anything". Dunno how that is in the US.

Clearly just one bad cop, the rest of them on scene did nothing because they figured he had it under control.
 
How many years is a life worth? I think 10 years of this man's life is... a fair price to pay since we can't just bring the victim back with the dragon balls.

Didn't Castille have the weapon on his lap and reach for it?

Haven't been keeping up with this case too well.

The officer is being charged for killing a man and recklessly endangering his girlfriend and 4 year old.

No, the gun was never visible. Castile was reaching for his ID, as instructed by the officer.
