So I'm thinking this is perhaps a drastic misinterpretation. or satire.

But the Pope did say some actual interesting stuff on homosexuality recently.

“I have yet to find anyone who has a business card that says he is gay,” the pontiff said at a press conference in which he addressed the reports of a "gay lobby" within the Vatican.
“They say they exist. If someone is gay, who searches for the Lord and has goodwill, who am I to judge?” he added. ---

The traddies, especially the RadTrads, are apoplectic. But some of them are still more offended by some restrictions imposed on the use of the 'Extraordinary' (i.e. Latin) mass and washing the feet of women back in May.
Interestingly the current pope is offending economic conservatives (his condemnation of "savage capitalism") just as much as social conservatives (atheists been redeemed!!) and traddies (his low-key pontificate style and simple liturgical style).

The more inclusive style of Francis is in sharp contrast to Benedict, who imposed an unpopular change to the Eucharistic prayer, altering the format from (Jesus’ blood being) "shed for you and for all" to "for you and for many”.

Its an advance but its not enough IMHO. At the same interview he said the door is closed for women as priests, reinforcing their status as second-class humans within Catholic Church. He left clear homossexual relationships are a sin and people should repent from them. He says gays should be integrated to the society, but how? Sublimating their homossexuality or by acepting it?

Yes, I know, I know, baby steps. But its not enough. They have to change. No, I am not alking about dumping their beliefs in god. I am just talking about adopting more tolerant, more humane positions.

He is the pope, what part of that didn't he understand before applying for the job? It is his job to judge and nothing changes until he judges it wrong. No pope has ever held back on judgement on any subject so why is Frannie doing it now?

Oh, right! Because he is the guy that decides and if he doesn't "judge" this issue things stay the same which means the catholic cult remains anti-gay and Frannie gets to look progressive to the sheeple.

This pope just stated he was continuing with the ultra-conservative dogma his predecessor, and live in boyfriend, implemented.

At least some of his recent comments may be specific to SA and stemming the exodus to the evangelicals.

Did he really say anything new? Wasn't doctrine always "hate the sin but love the sinner" it is gay people who have sex that the church always took issue with not properly celibate homosexuals.
