21 Priests Suspended in Philadelphia

This is pretty close to home for me. Having lived in the Philadelphia area all my life and being Roman Catholic up until about 2 years ago (I'm an atheist now), it seems I actually know one of the priests on the list. Admittedly my interactions with him were limited to a "hi" here and a "God, bless you" there as well as listening to his homilies, but I must say I'm taken aback by the allegations. If it turns out he is guilty, I will be very surprised as he just doesn't seem like the type to me (of course I say this with the knowledge that Jeffery Dahmer's neighbors probably said the same thing).

(Note: I'd rather not reveal the name of the priest I know, the town I live in, or the church I formerly went to, so please don't ask).

To be fair, if anyone covers up a crime long enough, one can escape prosecution.

Fair point, but I would argue that covering up one's own crime is one thing, but using a massive institutional conspiracy to provide cover for you is a different situation.

Welcome to the club! My old Episcopalian priest was arrested for having sex with teenage boys in his garage. He was a nice guy, too. Although, if he was an *******, he wouldn't have been that successful in luring teens to his garage.
