Capt Mbaye Diagne: A good man in Rwanda

Interesting read. I remember his name mentioned in passing during college, but nothing was ever fleshed out. Brave man. I found this quote from Romeo Dallaire (UN Force Commander in Rwanda), "The BBC's Mark Doyle who considered Diagne a friend, recently wrote to me, "Can you imagine the blanket media coverage that a dead British or American peacekeeper of Mbaye's bravery and stature would have received? He got almost none." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mbaye_Diagne Coincidentally or perhaps not, that is the same Mark Doyle who wrote the linked article. Sad it has taken this long for some resemblance of international recognition.

Thank you for posting this. I remember watching the news in horror at the time, but never heard this story or of Capt Mbaye. Which is sad, as he was obviously someone we all should have heard of. Sounds like he possessed more courage and decency than most of us.
