Canon printer on Ubuntu

I'm currently running Ubuntu on my PC and I'm quite happy with it.
But doesn't recognize my new Canon printer/scanner.

Can I get a driver from somewhere?
And how do I install it if I find one?

Up till now I've only installed stuff from the software center.
I have no idea how to install software that in downloaded any other way.

Dont forget to add the exact Name of your Printer/Scanner and the Ubuntu Version.

Looks like decent instructions; just don't

cd /tmp

unless that's where you downloaded the bjnp package. You'll want to cd /path/to/where/it/is.
