Candidate for Governor Doubts Flu Shots

Most here need no corroboration to believe the worst of GWB.

by the way ..

Except from Bob Windward, as mentioned in the first link.

Bob Windward? Who the hell in Bob Windward?

Oh, you meant Bob Woodward.

And what Bob Woodward says Bush said to him doesn't resemble the claim made here, but contradicts it. Woodward quotes him as saying, "I'm surely not going to justify war based upon God. Understand that. Nevertheless, in my case, I pray that I will be as good a messenger of His will as possible. And then of course, I pray for forgiveness." Nothing about God telling him what to do, only him praying he's doing the right thing.

Did you not notice this rather stark difference? Or did it, just like Bob's real name, slip past your attention?

Yes. My phone's autocomplete has a mind of its own.

Sure, Zig. Pick your nits.

Because the difference between "God told me to invade Iraq" and "I'm surely not going to justify war based upon God" is a nitpick.

Only if you don't realize that those two statements aren't mutually exclusive and can both be said without contradiction.

You brought up Woodward to support BenBurch, who was trying to source hgc's claim that Bush said God told him to go to war. Which Woodward's quotes don't do.

But it does corroborate Bush making similar statements, which is what you claimed there were none.

So, yeah. Time to move the goal posts or go back to ignoring me. Whichever is less threatening.

But it does corroborate Bush making similar statements, which is what you claimed there were none.

But it's NOT similar. Woodward's quote pretty much a refutation of the alleged quote from the Palestinians. If he said that God told him to go to war, then he's justifying war based on God. Which was exactly what he told Woodward he wouldn't do. How on earth is that similar? Because he said "God" both times?

What benefit do you think diplomats would get by making up something like that?

My personal belief; Bush said it. Bush was lying to get support from his audience. Bush doesn't believe in any God whatsoever. Bush didn't think it would be mentioned in public.

My question would be Is there other government leaders on this level that also hold these beliefs? Does he really doubt the effectiveness of vaccinations?

I noticed the article too, but note that Aiona is quoted as saying that he's "not convinced that vaccines are more beneficial than harmful." It's really hard without any more context to tell if he's an anti-vaxxer or just had a bad reaction to a previous flu shot.

Well, look at what else they said that Bush said.

My personal belief; Bush said it. Bush was lying to get support from his audience.

That's possible. It's also possible that those Palestinian politicians are lying to get support from their audience.

Bush doesn't believe in any God whatsoever.

That would sort of defeat the whole purpose of hgc's complaint, wouldn't it?

I have asked a few of honolulu's hungrier political journalists to have a deeper look at the specifics. Most are afraid of touching anything church related.

To outsiders, you have to understand the climate of Hawaii. It is in many ways the republican charicature of what runaway leftist policies would look like, but then in other cases, totally the opposite. PC is almost universally condemned here. Race based jokes and slogans are extremely popular here and not taboo or frowned upon.

And then there's the church

The unassailable church

It kills me that most Hawaiians, my family included, cling so tightly to the religions that destroyed their culture, oppress them today, and sit on and profit from the land which was rightfully given to our families around the turn of last century
