Here in Hawaii we just finished our primaries. Our democratic candidate is an ex hippie congressman. Our republican candidate promotes a christian agenda. Note that our current governor is a lady who is also Hebrew who seemed more like a 'let's get to work' kind of leader.

Today's news http://www.staradvertiser.com/news/20101001_Aiona_pushes_flu_shots_for_others.html states that our republican candidate doesn't personally believe in the effectiveness of the flu shot and doesn't have one administered. He does promote it publically however.

My question would be Is there other government leaders on this level that also hold these beliefs? Does he really doubt the effectiveness of vaccinations?

Just moving back to the islands after two decades in other spots, some more corrupt than hawaii, some far less. I've seen far stranger than anti-vaxxers in leadership roles.

We have a president who is reported to have said that at the heart of all the major religion is good moral values. I'd say that trumps anything either of these nuts will say

Our previous president said that his god told him to go to war. And he did! That's some freaky deaky right there.

And the guy before him said he DID NOT HAVE SEXUAL RELATIONS WITH THAT WOMAN!

Which part of that do you find nuts? That all religions preach good moral values are just some particular religion?

"At the heart"

I would consider either the jesus story or the ten commandments to be at the heart of christianity

If you think nailing someone to a tree so that you will forgive yourself for problems you yourself caused is moral, then we got problems. Islam and judaism aren't any better

I'll go with the Ten Commandments.

I just can't get to worked up over the supposed fact that "Jesus had a bad weekend for my sins".

He's lived in or currently lives in Arizona. `Nuff said.

You know, if we ever succeeded in giving the Arizona Strip to Utah, I'd have a hell of a lot less good examples from Arizona

I was really thinking of Hawaii politicians though. In a time when we are forcing all the public officials into furlough, they pass a anti-cell phone law even after every trial showed the laws were ineffective or worse, and want our undermanned police to chase after them

As I suspected: the sources are ALL second-hand accounts from some Palestinian politicians. No corroboration for such statements exists, and no record of Bush making similar statements anywhere else has been forthcoming.

You'll have to excuse me it I don't believe it.
