This could be similar to Norway or Switzerland or Iceland which aren't part of the EU, but are part of a common trade area. This would mean Canada adopting many EU regulations. Imports from the US would need to meet EU standards. There would effectively be free movement of goods between Europe and Canada. This might incentivize the Greenland government to move in the same direction.

The Schengen free travel area is slightly different, although Norway is part of this. It is not the same as the eurozone as Norway, Switzerland etc. Issue their own currency. Although it would be interesting if they joined the free travel area. It would mean considerably tighter border with the US.
It would certainly be an interesting move, the EU market is physically further but probably nearly as big as the US. It would certainly provide significant trade protection as it is difficult for the US to attack (fiscally) just one component of the free trade area.
