Can we all agree that Fox News is evil?

I know that we all on this forum are of various political and cultural stripes, and yet it is our belief in rational thinking and skepticism that binds us together. Based on this principal, can we please all agree that Fox News is bad for humanity? Not Hannity - humanity. If you don't agree, please explain why. And I thank you for your fair and balanced response.

Sources that consistently offer up false information are rightly not just ignored by the skeptic, but shunned.

Fox puts themselves in this category over and over. It's impossible to ignore, people cut and paste ignorant Fox crap in various forums I read over and over, no matter how many times they are logically and factually shot down.

My favorite clip that sums up Fox News is when John Stewart takes Gretchen Carlson, valedictorian and honors student from Stanford, to task for dumbing herself down to make a her living. To the extent that they attempt to make any intellectual pursuit appear to be nothing more than an elitist flaw to attract their audience of whiners, yes they are evil. The principal danger though is passing along false information to incite political unrest.

How do you get a job on television if you appear to be one of those people who need to pin their address to their coat so a stranger can help them find their way home?

I know a few people whose only news input is Fox News. It seems to satisfy a need to bemoan one's existence in a horrible world, sort of like religion that convinces its followers to look forward to death.

Isn't the same thing true of CBS,NBC,ABC, CNN, etc.? It seems to me that all these news agencies have few problems editing the news to give it the spin they want, inserting false information, and using the standard tools of disinformation.
If you're going to pick on one, why ignore the others, especially in view of the almost habitual use of disinformation by these agencies?

Thinking about this, maybe what is truly evil is the news consumer who fails to check multiple sources before believing something. But you still have to begrudge the devil just a little for trying to dupe the guy or gal, right?

I would say that Fox News is no more evil than this forum.

Well this forum is certainly evil. What time are we sacrificing the goat again? I picked the damn virgins card out of the secret satan hat yet again, and I still need a few hours to seduce them.

FOX News is, as Obama put it, the propaganda arm of the Republican party. What makes it so pernicious is the fact that it becomes the preferred news source of some with right-wing views.

But that seems to be a growing problem - news outlets that cater to a viewpoint instead of educating the electorate.

One is about willingly spreading disinformation to a gullible audience, and one is Fox news.

:duck:
I kid, I kid. Though seriously, they're not evil, just capitalizing on ignorance. And business is good.

Well then, you answered your own question.

No, I like how bill O'reilly is always willing to debate Jon Stewart, and The Five is a good show too.

CNN actually let someone speculate that an airliner may have vanished from the face of the Earth because it passed through small Black Hole inadvertently created by the Supercollider, and MSNBC is the propaganda wing of the DNC, but yeah, yeah, FOX is de 'evil'.

I'm not sure if my signature applies to Fox News or not. There must be some point where a continual number of lies stops being a thoughtless business strategy and becomes an act of evil, but am I the one to choose where that line is?

How do the former two statements have anything to relate to thread premise?

In making the ridiculous claim of a plane flying through a black hole, was CNN suggesting that we ban airliners?

Because when Fox News makes the equally ridiculous claim of widespread and rampant voter fraud, they suggest that we enact outright voter suppression.

I'm totally willing to concede that CNN is pathetic. I'm not quite sure that it's evil, but it absolutely sucks. It's incredibly lame, yes.
