Leumas -- you might consider changing your approach a little bit. I agree with some of what you are saying, but there is no need to be so caustic about it. The highlighting and formatting does not help either.

And you can add me to the list of someone who has no idea what a "Christian atheist" is.

It's an atheist that still has his mother's words in his heart, "Denying Christ is the worst thing you can do".

Do I find Christianity important? Yes, but only because it is a part of our culture. I don't find any form of religion important as a religion in itself both in the negative and positive sense. To fight a religion simply because it is a religion is to attach to much importance to the concept of religion. Further I don't believe that you can be certain that only be fighting to remove religion "as something bad", that you can be certain that it is replaced with something better.

In other words, yes, you can fight the bad guys, but what do you want to replace it with? I.e. what is your positive version of a better world, Leumas?

With regards

My response is your very own post but reworded from the other side of the rabbit's hole.

I don't find any form of religion stupidity important as a religion credulousness in itself both in the negative and positive sense. To fight a religion nonsense simply because it is a religion benightedness is to attach too much importance to the concept of religion enlightenment. Further I don't believe that you can be certain that only by fighting to remove religion absurdity "as something bad", that you can be certain that it is replaced with something better.

In other words, yes, you can fight the bad guys gullibility, hucksterism, stupidity, benightedness, superstition, irrationality, fear, coercion, shysterism, bigotry, xenophobia, prejudice, wishful thinking, irrationality, illogic, but what do you want to replace it with? I.e. what is your positive version of a better world, Leumas Tommy Jeppesen?

Interesting take, Leumas. You are saying that if someone is stupid, credulous, ignorant, or unenlightened, then the only acceptable manner in which to deal with him is to belittle, berate, and insult his mental status.

Because this will apparently fix it.

This must come in handy when Jesus applies for loans.

An itinerant preacher with no steady income? Loan deni... oh, wait! The applicant is Jesus! I can't deny him, so loan approved.

Jesus would never need to apply for loans... his father will give him everything he asks for.

Matthew 7:7-11
7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
7:8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
7:9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
7:10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

<snip what was a strawman sign but that was childishly sabotaged to reflect some juvenile antics.>

How devilishly juvenile!:p

I see what happened here... I borrowed the link to a strawman sign that Smartcookie was using in this post, to use in my above post.

He apparently has control over that image and thus goes and changes it in a juvenile attempt at sabotaging my post.

Serves me right for borrowing what I did not know was his image.

But what he has failed to notice is that he has also sabotaged his own post which now looks like below.

And if he tries to change it again this post will reflect that.

In the spirit of speculation that seems to drive some Christian Atheists to assert that Jesus must surely have had a natural explanation behind all his magic....

In using that image you violated Rule 5

Perhaps next time you'll ask me before you have the cheek to use images from MY dropbox account!!

You are right.... I apologize for borrowing your image.... I did not even see it was YOUR image.... I thought it was a stock image like many available on the internet.... I did not even look at the url.

Also thanks for teaching me something I have not thought about.... I have been storing my images for usage on this forum on the ISF images area... I did not think about using images from my own cloud.... thanks for the lesson.

You're welcome.

Dropbox is excellent for this task, you just drag the image into your public folder and link it.

I appreciate the new bit of knowledge... I do not use dropbox... I have other cloud servers I use. I wonder if they would be usable for that too... I'll have to look into it.

By the way did you create the wiggly derrieres that you used to moon me with in this post? If you did that is nice work you must be a good artist. Also did you create the strawman image you removed? That was nice too! I am not an artist I wish I could draw better!

By the way... since the wiggly derrieres were my prize... does that mean I can use that image?;)

This is the absolute most meaningless conversation ever.

How are we supposed to have a conversation on any intellectual level with one side going "Yeah but you can't prove that an invisible giant sky wizard didn't change the entire rules of reality at some point in the past to make an impossible thing happen."

That's a somehow even more anti-intellectual version of "I'm just gonna make stuff up at random."

At least it keeps them off the streets. :duck:

I fixed the link you cited so that it is a hotlink

I watched the video in the link.... but I am confused...

You posted it as a response to the question
what is your positive version of a better world, Tommy Jeppesen?

But the video shows a world where Atheists are pariahs being fired from their jobs and their careers ruined and people shunning them from their society and not willing to vote them into government jobs and not willing to allow them to marry their daughters and in general being treated as if they were the devil.

So I am not sure what you are saying??? Please explain.
