Can cats sense spirits?

Cats live in a very different world than humans and sense it very differently. Anyone attempting to apply human understanding or traits to cats just comes off looking rather ignorant.

That's OK, those points were worth repeating. :D

I didn't believe it was spirits myself, but it struck me as odd that she seems to be avoiding the spot where our previous cat died less than two months before she arrived. She probably isn't, but that's how it appears.
 
Also, if new cat was weird about another spot in another room, you may not have noticed? Coincidence with a spot that was meaningful to you might be at play, here.
