Calling All Skepchicks!

Homeopathic auto repair: If your car doesn't work, drive it into a lake. If that doesn't work, push it into the ocean.

My friend tried that once (in a river) but it didn’t work. I guess he just forgot to shake it vigorously while it was being diluted. How about homeopathic fuel, a little gasoline in a lot of water, shake well then pour it in to your tank and you’ll never have to worry about the cost of gas again (at least not for that car). Just be careful not to dilute the mixture too much (making too strong of a homeopathic fuel) or it might just spontaneously combust.

legne, she's not a misandrist. The only evidence of her on the entire internet is just this community.feministing post and she hasn't said anything man-hating at all in it. She's not even that strongly an altie, just ignorant.

"the patriarchal shadow of the doctor-patient relationship undermines a woman's ability to make informed decisions about her healthcare."
That one right there kinda oozes some good ol man-hatin' to me. Radical feminists (misandrist and mysogynists at the same time) love using the word "patriarch" to refer to how women (supposedly) are dominated by men in society, and how it's mens fault that they're not getting ahead in life. Similarly to the concept of blaming everything on the jews.
She's one step away from spelling it "womyn".

Really? (not linking to the pages, just google her name and it will come up)

Tidal Touch Massage and Bodywork was founded by Erica Matluck in San Francisco, CA. Tidal Touch relocated to Seattle, WA last summer when Erica began a naturopathic medical program at Bastyr University.

Apparently she spent quite some time abroad studying reiki and all the other stuff. I say it takes more than just ignorance to believe in reiki.

Rooted in ancient Japanese culture, Reiki is a form of energetic healing that combines the universal life force or energy with that of the individual to promote healing. The treatment involves placing warm hands lightly on the body in a sequence of positions to balance charkas (energy centers) and clear energetic blockages. The client usually experiences warmth, tingling and a somewhat dreamy state of consciousness. The treatment cleans and dissolves toxic substances and negative energy on the physical, emotional and mental levels. Reiki is an excellent means of addressing emotional issues associated with trauma, cancer, or simply for wellness and prevention.

From her own website. She managed to misspell "chakra", maybe you are right about that ignorance thing.

"There was actually a time when hysterectomies were performed because women were considered "hysterical"

Feel free to correct me, but wasn't the most common treatment for female hysteria an orgasm?
And doesn't "hysterectomy" translate to "cutting out the womb" (which would indicate that it's never had anything to do with hysteria?)?
I don't like mysoginistic misandrists who lie.
Wouldn't mind a massage though.

I once checked a "women's" essay collection out of the library, thinking there might be some good reading in it. There was. I think. Unfortunately, the only piece I remember is the one about how science is masculine and "magic" is feminine -- you know, the tired old schtick about how women are all inherently psychic and holistic and have mystical healing powers and yadda yadda yadda (although the author's best example of her own psychic powers was that she once had a premonition about her friend's child dying, and then found out that three days earlier the daughter had choked on a piece of bread and needed the heimlich or something... very impressive).

And, of course, we as women need to free ourselves from domineering male science and embrace something kinder and touchy-feelier and less inherently EVIL. After all, science has brought us such horrors as the atom bomb, pollution, and organ transplantation.

Yes. Organ transplantation was listed among the evils of science.

I have never been so offended, on behalf of my entire sex, as I was when I read that essay. Gag.

I wish female hysteria would be a real diagnose again :( Prescription orgasm, how lovely!

Borealys, that sounds so horrifyingly disgusting. I would've taken it home and wiped my ass with it. Not very ladylike, I know, I blame patriarchy.
I can't stand that touchy-feely-let's-talk-to-our-ovaries stuff. Oh, that kinda reminds me. There's a path within wicca called "Dianic wicca", or "Dianic feminist wicca".

The most noticeable differences between the two are that Dianic covens are usually female-only while other Wiccan covens are usually mixed, some aiming for equal numbers of men and women, and that most Wiccans worship the God and Goddess, while Dianics generally worship the Goddess as Whole Unto Herself; or if they worship the God, it is as a consort of the Goddess, rather than an equal.

If you want something a bit more postmodern than New Age, check out Luce Irigaray:
Is E=MC2 a sexed equation? Perhaps it is. Let us make the hypothesis that it is insofar as it privileges the speed of light over other speeds that are vitally necessary to us. What seems to me to indicate the possibly sexes nature of the equation is not directly its uses by nuclear weapons, rather it is having privileged what goes the fastest...
Quoted in Alan Sokal's Intellectual Impostures. She also appears to consider Physics sexist because it "privileges" solid over fluid mechanics.

Short reaction: Oh, sure. Give us the stuff that can't be shown to actually work. How very empowering.

:boggled:

Yeah. They are banking on us being the more gullible gender. Which is why I like to come here. There are many of us that are female that proving not to be so gullible. Keep posting gals, you give me hope for female kind.

I was just reading about a man who fell in love with a woman beyond his station in life so he prayed to Dianna who turned the woman into a dog. She showed up at the mans house as a dog, turned back into a woman so they could make love all night, then turned back into a dog and went home with no memory of the event. This Dianna sure seems to have the best of intentions for womankind. This story is from a book of witchcraft printed at the turn of the last century. I read aloud the accompanied spell and as of yet no dog women have turned up at my door. There is a labrador prowling the neighborhood but I'm pretty sure it's an actual dog.

Patient feedback from someone named “Kevin”, what happened to the “women who want to serve women”? Well I guess there is no question hear about some men’s ability to make informed decisions about their healthcare

whew, I got tears now!

Me too, clearly this man has succumb to the wiles of the female pseudo-medical establishment. There is only one time honored ubiquitous pseudo-medical cure for men… “Just walk it off”.

Got the wind knocked out of you?

“Just walk it off”

Got hit in the groin when not wearing a cup?

“Just walk it off”

Feeling depressed?

“Just walk it off”

Found an irregular shaped mole on your shoulder, that’s getting bigger everyday?

“Just walk it off”

Car accident has exposed your spleen?

“Just walk it off”

Got tears in your eyes?

"Just walk it off"

"The idea is to treat the cause of disease, as opposed to symptoms"

Every time I see that all I can think is - wouldn't that idea kill children suffering from most kinds of severe dysentery? Isn't it far more important to keep kids hydrated than to try to cure the bugs causing the problem?

You are just falling for the trap THEY want you to. The problem is not some sort of hypothetical microscopic organism, but a misalignment of the chi.

I recomend Homeopathic Feng Shui. It will cause a quantum realignment of the chi.
