That Callahan wants to bring attention to some feat he is going to do, apparently letting an old woman die, is just crass commercialism.
But if Callahan thinks he has such a clear-cut case against Randi, then why doesn't he alert the FBI?

He'd have to alert the FBI to the following magicians too Daniel Garcia,Jay Sankey,Richard Sanders,Jim Steinmeyer.Probably quite a few more.

Kidding aside, I thought I would point out that the person to the shill's right is Sean McCabe, who works for the JREF. He was helping manage the Q&A line and I think he also helped pick out the dowsing testee for the test that day.
That guy is a Dragon*Con staff member who handed the guy the microphone. In the photo he may actually be looking back toward the soundboard guys who were in the left rear of the room and were telling him how much time was left. He is also the guy you can hear on Callahan's video saying "I'm sorry, I gotta have the room" and "You said it was gonna be short!" before taking the microphone away from him.
Just FYI for anyone wondering.

Over at the Magic Café, he and others have been obsessed with Randi for a long time. If you search that forum for Randi you'll find a zillion posts.
I tried to register so that I could join the love-fest, but it appears TMC blocks my ISP -- which happens to be only the second-largest telco in Australia.
Just as well, I suppose. I don't want to join any organization that'd have me as a member.

I just watched the new Callahan video (where he exposes Randi as a counterfeiter!). The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

Well, that Jim calls this a crime is the stupidest part of this video however.
He used the 'bill' as an example and destroyed it at the end. It's printed on standard paper in a standard photocopier? Then it should never be confused as the real thing due to size and feel differences.
You target the stupid and the ignorant with your "mystical feats" in the same way that Sylvia Browne and John Edward do. Won't YOU think of the children?
You claim that people aren't thinking for themselves, and can't happen to agree with Randi without being slaves to the JREF?
I independently came to the conclusion that you're a fraud before I ever heard Randi speak of you. I used critical thinking to come to that conclusion.
Thinking critically is the enemy of your type , and it's ironic that you suggest people learn to think, when that's the last thing you want. Hard for YOU to print money if the audience can see through you.

I was standing up at the front of the stage, and took those couple shots of Jim's Fan Boy. The staff guy made a number of motions to the sound board guy to kill the audio... big exaggerated miming of pointing at the microphone and making finger across the throat motions. I watched the sound guy laugh at him and shake his head no. Seems there was more than one fan of mentalism in the room that night

The thread is a discussion about a video in which James Randi shows how a pen that is used to detect fake money does not work as claimed. Jim's point is that James faked some money and this is a crime. The people in the thread said for what James was doing this is not a crime. Another thread in which Jim gets shown not to be 100% right.
These pens were discussed in this forum and in Swift ages ago.
Edit. I keep forgetting to say that themagiccafe is a large forum, about half the size of randi forum. That is if you measure it by the number of US people who visit the site.

I believe that people have quoted the exact laws that Randi broke during his video.

Assuming that Jim has not reported this 'crime' to the authorities, doesn't that make him an accessory to the crime?
It will sure mean something to me when James Randi is convicted of this felony. I doubt that any court will convict him, though, and Jim Callahan seems to agree since he decides to use slander instead of reporting Randi to the FBI.
I think there are two separate arguments being had here:
i. The allegation that Jim Callaghan is a fake.
ii. The allegation that James Randi is a criminal.
Normally the cross pollination of both arguments might tend to confuse things. But in this instance, I think I might have a solution.
If Jim is sure that James is a scurrilous reprobate and up to no good, he can sort it all out very easilly.
All Jim needs to do is to contact one of his deceased peers, ask him or her to follow James around with a phantom video camera and get the goods. Remember video footage is considered to be admissible evidence in a courtroom. Although, just to be sure, you might have your deceased colleague on stand by to be called as a witness, just in case.
A bit of advice for Jim: You are reproducing Randi's 'counterfeit' note by uploading the video you're blathering on about and indeed, more importantly, you're educating the very children you say you are concerned about, in the ways of producing 'counterfeit' notes. As long as you refrain from having Mr Randi arrested and charged, you're adding to the 'problem' rather than aiding in its solution.
