Daar Forum-Members,
As a German-American currently living in Germany, I usually listen to the American Forces Network (AFN) whenever I let the radio entertain me.
This station is targeted at a military audience and is also government-funded, so it should be championing the cause of the constitution. However, on Sundays they have a Europe-wide "Praise Patrol" hour which champions Religious Zeal and Fundamentalism. Today, they had David Limbaugh on, talking about how Christians (!) are discriminated against - and the shows host complained about the slant of educational boards who don't want Creationism taught in schools.
I urge you to Email AFN and voice your concern about such shows on government-sponsored media.
Here is where you can post:

And here is what I wrote:

Dear AFN Staff,
First: My wife and I lofe AFN, specifically the Z98.7 radio station. We are patriots and appreciate the bridge you folks build for keeping in touch with our beloved US of A.
However, we were horrified to dicover the show "Praise Patrol" on Z 98.7, 15:00 hours CET. They had the noted ultra-conservative (may I say "fascist"?) David Limaugh talking about "Persecution of Christians" and spewing hate and intolerance into the airwaves. He was also attacking the wall of seperation between church and state. The host of the show even defended the posting of the Ten Commandments in a court bulding, which has been found to be unconstitutional and therefore illegal by the US Supreme Court.
We are shocked to learn that a supposedly free media outlet is broadcasting anti-liberal, anti-scientific ("Creationism") and anti-constitutional slander. I always thought that your station is supposed to support the voice of reason in unreasonable times and always felt you were doing a good job (the little ads reminding US soldiers to leave a good impression in ther host countries are EXEMPLARY!).
In the name of "making a good impression of the US", I urge you to stop broadcasting this hate and slander asap. The arguments discussed in the show ("Hate crimes against Christians") were absolutely laughable and did not in any way reflect the reality in the US.
