Bwahahahaha!

How did it get to the point that there even is such a thing as a "homeopathic hospital"? Let alone did they get government funds?

That were "grandfathered" in when the NHS was founded in 1947. There was a bit of a debate about it at the time I believe, but it didn't hurt the homoeopaths' case that the royal family have been big fans since the time of Good Queen Vic. Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mother) was a thoroughgoing woo.

There was a campaign to get the Glasgow hospital closed quite recently, which failed due to pressure groups complaining. However, there used to be five of these hospitals but now Tunbridge Wells is gone. Four green bottles, hanging on the wall....

The RLHH has been renamed as the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine "in order more accurately to reflect the nature of its work" (other than on that "history" page there is currently remarkably little mention of homoeopathy on its website), and the Hahnemann Hospital in Liverpool closed in 1976, now being a department at the Old Swan Health Centre (note that that describes itself as "one of only four NHS Homeopathy departments in the U.K.", rather than one of four "homeopathic hospitals").

To say that there are four NHS homeopathic hospitals would appear to be something of an exaggeration.

We really need a facepalm smiley.

This do?

:mgduh

Rolfe.

Close, but what I had in mind was something with a bit more of an air of despairing pity about it, like the Patrick Stewart/Jean-Luc Picard one.

Because up until somewhere around the turn of the century homopathy wasn't that much worse than the alturnatives and had the advantage of lower levels of mercury. Same reason there are still a few hospitals and medical schools in the US with the name Hahnemann attached to them.

Wouldn't one-billionth of a homeopathic hospital be more effective than a whole one? Hire a college kid to occasionally refill an office-style water jug outside a post office somewhere and be done with it.
