Bush's Stem Cell Veto NOT Overturned

I'm trying to work up a care.

As much as the media and some would like it to be a really big issue, it isn't resonating with voters. I expect to see a lot more grandstanding on this issue but I'll probably just ignore the majority of it. It would take a pretty strong argument to make me care.
 
I still think he's just trying to appeal to his 'base' (all the christians who are still backing him somewhat).

What does surprise me, is that the votes for an override weren't as close as I'd thought they would've been.
 
Most people don't care unless they are actually trying to "ban" it. Vetoing something we have to "pay" for, even if his reason is not economic related, blows over pretty easy. I'd like a stop to alot more spending than just based on moral reasons. They can start the non-profit stem cell foundation if that many people want it. Maybe if they told us more about what happened to the first 90mill, it might get some interest.
 
Thank goodness those poor little zygotes won't have to suffer in order to allow others to be cured and live a normal life. Its better that they'll simply suffer in order to make more room in the freezer.
 
Any time a spending bill is defeated it is a good day. Do all the stem cell research you want to pay for privately, don't throw taxpayer money at it.

I think too many people are under the impression that stem cell research is banned in the US. It isn't, only federal funding of it is.
 
If you want to fund the research, send them a check. From the sounds of it, if all these people demanding it sent a donation, there wouldn't be a problem. Non-profit is better than a government hand in it anyway. After they spend more funding money with no cures, would we have to do this again in a few years?
