Watching an interview with him the other day, Bush said he will be writing a book soon after leaving office.

Can't wait.

I'm not entirely sure W would perceive the difference between the two.

He does seem to experience periodic challenges with prepositions (and other parts of the language). Are we sure he didn't mean that he would be writing (coloring or scribbling, perhaps) in or on a book?

The whole world has seen my dog standing on the drivers seat of my car with his paws on the steering wheel. I assure you, this does not mean my dog is capable of driving the car :D
