Bush to commute Libby prison sentence

Committing perjury when it comes to leaking undercover CIA operatives... okey-dokey!

Committing perjury when it comes to blowjobs... bummer!

Worse than the lifeboat ethic... is the going down.

Of course he deserves at least 30 months. He's a criminal capable of terrorizing the body politic. Who knows what he'll do next -- maybe hold up the line at a fast food place trying to remember if honey-bunny wanted a #5 or a #6.

What's so infuriating about this decision -- and like the poster above I instantly recalled the "Solomon-like" stem cell nonsense that won him a whole lot of praise -- is the fake reflection and consideration. I hope it backfires, and Bush manages to infuriate the crazy "Libby should have gotten a FULL pardon" crowd along with all the sane people who know Libby should do time. I doubt that will happen, unfortunately. The crazy Bush apologists know the money and "damage to reputation" are meaningless at this point. By taking such a ridiculous position it makes Bush appear more moderate, so the sheeple who never followed this thing in detail will be tricked into thinking the boy president sounds reasonable.
You really really don't like Bush do you?:)

He should have got a full pardon...

Back when Ashcroft appointed him, pretty much everybody agreed that Fitzgerald was competent, qualified, and fair. Now that he successfully nailed one of the rat bastards, certain partisan hacks feel the need to disparage his credentials and his efforts.

Wah, Wah, Wah.

I'm upset for the same reason I was when the Senate voted for politics rather than ethics against a clearcut Perjury/Obstruction charge on Clinton....
Govt Officials should be nailed to the wall, not given easy treatment, no matter how many people think the charges are unfair.
Dubya should have let Libby sit.
Well, at least you pleasantly surprise me, by your not allowing partisan politics to over-ride your commitment to rule of law.

I see many of the usual suspects are happy about this; it seems bloody stupid to me, since it only creates an atmosphere where rule of law is held in contempt by all parties, with very bad longterm consequences. The usual suspects see this as happily giving the finger to the Dems; what happens if the Dems do it later themselves back? The body politic is getting seriously ill.

Bring on the Teapot Dome again. Feh. It's hard to feel more contempt for those who place their tribal political allegiances above all law and the country's interest.

Everyone knows that Armitage leaked it.

The President commits perjury about a BJ...what else would or did he lie about?

He "nailed" him in a perjury trap. Fitzgerald was tasked to prosecute the leaker of Plames identity under the 1982 Intelligence Identities Protection Act.
He knew before he even questioned Libby that it was Richard Armitage that had leaked her name. He also knew that the law in question had not been violated that is why he didn't indict Armitage. He did know that he needed something to show for his effort and he got it.

Holy ****!

This... This is like a Liberal's wet dream! Damn!

Is Bush effing retarded? His approval rating can go lower, he's not at zero yet.
Yep.

I don't give a rat's ass about Libby. He is small potatoes. I want the big Dick. This will do nothing but make it easier for the Dems to turn this into a full-fledged scandal. I think that is a good thing.

Thanks, Dubya. You are such a predictable tool.

The Dems have been holding trying to find a scandal for years now with no luck...Good Bye "Fritz Christmas".

Bush is in the 20's approval wise. I guess to many here that is cause for celebration. The flip side is that Congress is in the teens approval wise. The democrats have one single major piece of legislation they can point to so far and that is the minimum wage bill. The entire focus is "getting someone in the administration". I hate to tell you this but it is going to help the GOP if the democrats don't come to their senses. Bush and Cheney are not going to be impeached. The Iraq war is not going to end while Bush is in office and democrats had better start producing something soon because the close the election season comes the the chances for any legislative gains will dwindle exponentially. Ya'll are making the same mistake the rabid right did with Clinton and making this very very personal.

LOL. No great loss. I'm not sure anyone would even notice a diminished thinking capacity.;)
Never underestimate your enemy. That "dummy" has you folks in almost uncontrollable rage. That is never a smart frame of mind to be in.

Anyone remember this brave moment of justice?

Susan McDougal

She was convicted on May 28, 1996, and spent time in prison for four counts of fraud and conspiracy relating to the Whitewater scandal. She was later charged with (and acquitted of) embezzlement against noted conductor Zubin Mehta.[1]

She also spent 18 months in prison including 7 weeks in solitary confinement for civil contempt of court. U.S. District Court Judge Susan Webber Wright sentenced her after McDougal refused to answer three questions from Whitewater prosecutors before the grand jury empaneled by Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr to investigate the Whitewater deals. These questions included whether President Bill Clinton lied in his testimony during her Whitewater trial, particularly when he denied any knowledge of an illegal $300,000 loan. During that trial, the government's star witness, Arkansas banker and former municipal judge David Hale, claimed that then-Governor Bill Clinton had discussed an illegal $300,000 loan with himself and McDougal.

McDougal received a full Presidential pardon from outgoing President Bill Clinton in the final hours of his presidency in 2001.

No, not really. No Democrat has seriously suggested impeachment, and Pelosi has said it's not on the table. Sure, they're keeping the pressure on, but mostly they're simply giving the Repubs enough rope. Frankly, one problem the Dems have is that they are not willing to play hardball the way the Reps are.

For example, when Bill was president, Hillary was vilified. I've never seen where any Democrat has ever said anything really bad about Laura.

You still suck at this. Try another schtick, and for goodness' sake, don't quit your day job.
