Bush in 2012?

The political theater would be amazing, but I would oppose it on the same grounds that I opposed Hillary's potential candidacy. Namely, I don't like political dynasties.

One of the few reasons I've heard opposing Hillary that makes sense. My reason was I thought she'd bring all sorts of people out of the woodwork to vote against her, potentially handing the GOP a win. Then we'd have Palin presiding over the Senate. :eye-poppi

An effort to draft J. Bush wouldn't surprise me at all. The current mess that is the Republican field of candidates lends itself to such.

I fear politics is never as interesting as it could be. My dreams of a presidental election between the tickets of Anderson Cooper/Prince Harry and Cyndi Lauper/Jodi Watley will never happen, will it? The juicy part would be the discovery, one year into term, that President Cooper and Vice President Windsor are secretly an item. Lauper/Watley would run again and win by a landslide, and then we find out they're an item, also! That's much more interesting than the current prospectives, I think. I can't bring myself to even think about Newt Gingrich sleeping with anyone, ever.

im not interested in family relationships, just qualifications. ive seen nothing about Jeb that makes him unqualified. he appears to be intelligent and articulate.

The current mess has led to Newt signing up to run.
Newt?
President Newt?
The very thought makes my brain bleed.

What little I know about the man makes me think he would be better than his brother, but there are plenty of other just as or more qualified candidates out there who have not already had two of his immediate family members be President already. Hows about we spread that around a little bit?

This would have been much better for the country, but now I don't think Jeb can win. Being the brother of Geoge is too much.

Jeb has his own "issues" that would bring out the hater vote against him in droves.

Newt is scary...President Newt with a Tea-Party Congress is the nation's worst nightmare made real.

As weak as it is for most purposes, the rumor that he was at one time boinking the witch who purged thousands of minority voters from the rolls in Florida in 2000 may come up to bite him in the ass again.

Expect minority voter approval to run about zero or less.

Carville has Jeb as the wild card pick

“If Jeb Bush’s name was Jeb Smith it wouldn’t be a race. I mean he is a successful governor twice of a large state, he appeals to social conservatives…he can raise a ton of money, he’s a skilled politician, he’s got kind of an affable guy which people kind of like. He’s got stellar conservative credentials…on paper I’ve never seen a stronger candidate but, you know he’s obviously got the legacy issue,” he said.

If the only alternative is Bachman or Palenty, I can see a lot of republicans holding their nose on the legacy issue.

The problem will be the independants.

Jeb Bush bowed out in July of last year. Now that the Obama reelection is looking even more inevitable, he ain't about to reconsider. Just where is the cite for these "rumors," oh eater of mountain men?

I don't know about Jeb, but the longer the polls show no front-runner for the GOP nomination, the more likely someone not currently in the running could pop in and get the nomination. I suspect with Huckabee out, Romney will start to emerge as a front-runner before long.
