Bush Cracks Jokes, Dems Not Amused

First of all, thank you for your service to the Nation. I respect and admire that, and thank you for it.

But, I still don't find it funny. There are other ways for the President to have gotten a laugh involving the search for WMDs.

I understand gallows humor. My son tells me a lot about this sort of thing, as does my younger son who's training to become a firefighter. (I've got four altogether.) Believe me, when you're trying to keep a fellow driver who's been injured on the job awake and aware of what's going on around him so the paramedics can help him, you can come up with some genuinely twisted jokes. It breaks the tension, and makes things a little more bearable.

This wasn't what it was about. I'm sorry, Troll, but I guess we can agree to disagree.

I can understand your difference based upon the joke itself. Difference in taste, difference in situations. I apologize for coming out a little harsh. I think I just got caught up with all the posts that just dislike it because of who said it.

Troll:
"There's sympathy and remorse and then there's just pathetic."

I don`t get your meaning here...I`d like to if you care to elaborate.

No problem.

See I often find myself having to put down the paper or switch channels from the news to take a break from all the stories involving some kid getting killed or molested or some accident taking out someone, or news of people in the military being killed in fighting or training accidents, because I find it becomes a little overwhelming with the depressing after a while. So I take a break, and enjoy some things like a violent video game or movie or some stupid comedy routine, so as to not have my day or my thoughts merely focused upon all the negative things. Otherwise I'd dwell on one thing, one aspect of life, and anyone would consider that a pathetic existance.

Yes I feel bad for the kid that got maimed. But I will not continue to dwell upon his situation to the point of where I allow it to negate my laughing at a guy who made a joke at his expense. Please don't try to confuse the matter of him making a joke about himself by trying to connect it to a joking matter about sending troops to die, unless you personally know the man to sincerely be that devoid of human nature and sympathy. His joke was for a press group based upon pictures of himself and a topic for which he is getting flack for( wmds). I saw nothing in there that would warrant my going back to thinking of something sad to prevent me from enjoying a simple joke.

Sorry, I forgot, we went to Iraq to "liberate the Iraqi people." After all, that's what Our Fearless Leader kept talking about prior to the invasion. He kept harping on the need to liberate Iraq, he didn't even mention the idea that Iraq had WMD or might've posed a threat to the US.

The US invaded Iraq to comply with the demands of Al Qaeda, because getting rid of Saddam was the only practical means of plotting a future course to getting US troops out of Saudi Arabia, which was the primary demand of Al Qaeda in the first place.

(No, I don't seriously think this is the reason--I don't think the Bush administration is smart enough to think this up. On the other hand, nor do I think that most of the critics of Bush are smart enough to see how it logically follows from what they were spewing after 9/11 either.)
