Bumper sticker. . .(shudder)

Yes, I have.

Numbers 31:17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.

It's brutal and evil full of atrocities, racism, slavery and intolerance. Yeah, I HAVE READ IT.

No question. Look into the background of Christianity and you will find the same.

Kathy: You're messing with the wrong guy, here. RandFan knows far more than you realize. :jaw-dropp

The day someone's life can change is when they decide to take God at His Word. Jesus is who He claimed to be, the only way to the Father. The true Son of God who came here to earth to save us all!

And outside of the Bible, which has been edited, added to, and parts of it taken away, how are we supposed to know this? What primary sources (you know what a "primary source" is, right?) are there out there to tell us of this?

Even if someone believes that the Bible is the word of God, it has been too far edited to be considered as "Godly truth."

A phoney, AKA false prophet! The book of Mormon isn't true.

But what about the Koran? That book is less-edited from its beginnings than the Bible is.

People will never become like God and someday own their own planet.

Then what is the point in it all? If we are not to have that, then why even continue with existence?

Jesus and Lucifer are not brothers, shall I continue?

God created Jesus, God created Lucifer. So how are they not brothers? Maybe they are half-brothers, but that opens a lot of interesting questions.

Well why wouldn't you want to like or love the one who created you? God knows each of us better than we even know ourselves.

I cannot love what I fear. No one can truly love what they fear. All the time I was thought in church to "fear God, and the phrase "God-fearing" is used all the time.

How can I love something that, if I make one mistake according to its rules, and it is perfect so that there is no way I can even match its rules, will toss be into eternal torture forever? It is just not posable.

The threat is empty for every reason under the sun.

I don't have to bust you one across the chops to oppose what you say or what you do. I can stand in opposition to what you claim to believe, and, yes, that represents integrity. It is the same as when I say something cruel or ugly, and someone else confronts me, as has happened in the past on this board.

Good for you.

And make note, sir. You were the one who brought up violent action. Not me.

When did that occur?

Probably, A. But there's a point where Huntster's attitude, his smugness, gets to me. That's probably the greatest affront.

He believes in Christ? Great. Many do. Maybe in person, he's a great guy, someone who's quite literally a pillar in the community, and for that I would applaud him. Fewer and fewer are willing to step up to the plate for that.

But, dammit, enough. I can't bear any more of the ugliness that is presented here, and justified in the name of God.

(Oh, and BTW: Read your bit about "Noah's wife" to Peggy. She not only laughed, but blushed. If you're ever in Sacramento, give us a call. You're welcome here.)

What the Hell are you talking about?

Now if one must freely choose to love him[god], and such a person is ignorant of god, then they are, based on what the RCC teaches, upon death going to hell.
What an idiot.

I'm continually assailed with the argument of:

"How can I hate something I don't believe exists?"

So, I ask you (please, read it slowly, and multiple times, if needed):
Considering that even you posted
That's incorrect (or a lie). If you're ignorant of God (don't know about Him), you cannont know or reject Him.
The RCC teaches you must know god or you’ll go to hell.

You do realize that you’ve actually agreeing. That if someone is ignorant of god they cannot choose to love god. If they do not freely choose to love god then when they die they go to hell.

The Atheist
Your comment in bold is, I believe, quite indisputable. Nothing that I know of suggests that people who are ignorant of god are excluded from him.
The RCC Catechism specifically one must know god to gain entrance to heaven. Therefore is one is ignorant of god they go to hell.

We’ve got plenty of examples where he deceives in the bible. I guess god only wants the really gullible.

Jesus is who He claimed to be, the only way to the Father. The true Son of God who came here to earth to save us all!
So if the son is the father and Jesus and Mary Madeline had a few kids and they had a few kids and so on down through the generations, then how many gods do we have running around on earth now? Or is it like homeopathy and the divine blood is so diluted at this point that everyone on earth is god?

”SMILE, GOD LOVES YOU BARBEQUED!”

When you're done with the games, I'll consider responding to you. Until then, enjoy yourself.

What games? You even wrote in post #996:
If you're ignorant of God (don't know about Him), you cannont know or reject Him.
And following the RCC catechism those who don’t choose god are damned to hell.

If you're suggesting that people who are ignorant of God necessarily fall into that category, then I think that's wrong. How do you reconcile that with Catechism 847, which appears to indicate that even those who do not know Christ or his Church may achieve eternal salvation?

I guess that's why we are all warned in scripture to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.

What a narrow idea about a god you have there, I almost feel sorry for you and how much you have limited yourself to the world around you.

At the risk of getting the thread back on topic (bumper sticker), I submit the following ;)

One I got a chuckle out of -

Picture of the Darwin fish with feet, upside down, under water - "Fish don't have feet and Jesus still lives" Or something like that.

Shows a great understanding of evolution! :covereyes

One I kinda liked, though I'm not sure exactly what the position of the car owner on religion is -

"When Jesus said Love your enemies, I'm pretty sure he meant don't kill them."

I'm guessing the second one is more an anti-war statement than a religious one, and while I hold no stock in the whole Jesus thing, I kinda like the sticker :)

Thread has gotten a bit large, and I didn't read all of it before posting this. Hope I'm not repeating anything.

Actually I went from having more of a pantheistic point of view in my past to the realization that we all must enter heaven through the narrow door. Jesus is the only door! Wide is the path to destruction Paul.

Not only do you have a very limited idea of a god, you are very limited yourself, self delusional, and self severing. Like I said before, poor poor kathy.

Fear and trembeling? First you keep saying to love God, and yet you say this?

One cannot love what they fear! It would not be love then.

Wide is the path to destruction Paul.

Not to be confused with Devastation Peter, Havoc Thaddeus, Ruination Matthew, or Retribution Simon, just a few of the "Disciples of DOOM" action figure collection.

What reconcilation is needed? Let us look at the actual text.

847
This affirmation is not aimed at those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ and his Church:
Those who, through no fault of their own, do not know the Gospel of Christ or his Church, but who nevertheless seek God with a sincere heart, and, moved by grace, try in their actions to do his will as they know it through the dictates of their conscience—those too may achieve eternal salvation.

From the text those ignorant of god must still seek god.

Ignorant still goes to hell.

Ignorant of god but seeking god may with god's grace go to heaven. There is that active requirement again and on top of that god still has to grant one grace.
