Bullish on Bernie: The Bernie Sanders 2016 Thread

OK by this I can tell that you think that she disregarded the law because she wanted to keep the emails to private to cover up anything that might hurt her chances at the Presidency... right?

CE has a very, very different vision of what kind of criminal she is, as their posts show.

Your theory is stupid btw :)

stupid?

Not keeping up with the clinton emails thread are you?

C'mon, keep on topic. #stillsanders

Given your record of supporting losing candidates and backing failed political movements.,your disdain is good news for Hilary.

Really? So you've been under the impression that I vote for Nader and Green Party candidates because I think that they will win?
Not at all. In fact, I admit that most of the political movements and candidates that I support have long odds. Although I don't support Sanders, I always said that he had only a slim chance, due to the party he's in. He's surprised me, because he actually got a lot further than I expected him to.

Trump, on the other hand, does not fit this pattern. He does not have long odds. He has very good odds. There are several reasons for this, right off the top of my head: growing discontent with "politics as usual", his adept methods of getting the media to pay attention to him, and so on. The arguments I have heard against him winning are not convincing. In fact, the argument seems to boil down to "WTF?! Trump?!! Are you frickin' kidding me??" This does not inspire confidence. Am I supposed to believe that people will be so turned off by Trump that they will vote for Clinton? I suspect that most of the anti-Trump people just won't vote. Unfortunately, it is much easier to not vote.

And how anybody as far to the left as you are could support Trump is just mind boggling.

That's like saying that if I leave a sandwich out on the kitchen counter, I support mold. I don't support Trump. I expect him. I've been expecting him for about a decade now. The Democrats and Republicans have created an environment that is ripe for a demagogue. Of course, I would've preferred that we take the Bernie Sanders route to populism, but it looks like that ship has sank.

What the primary taught me is not to underestimate Trump. Bernie and Hillary are fossilized politicians. Trump has tremendous latitude to say whatever he wants, with no political past to constrain him.

It's baffling how he has it over on the press. Apparently, they need him more than he needs them. I believe the polls as they stand now, before the campaign begins and before the criminal investigation runs its course.

The actual campaign Trump runs has to be a wildcard. Don't dismiss him out of hand. How he twists coming events to his advantage will matter.

This country is so weird over what it feels outraged by. If the email investigation uncovers a photo of Hillary kicking a kitten, she might be done. If she runs weapons to head choppers and they run amok across four countries - nice try. Try again: bombs, sanctions, drones. I can't wait.

But for the wild card.

No it isn't, they think he'll take himself out every time he speaks. That is why they are on him.
They like many others simply don't understand the outrage in this country.

I've heard over and over your distaste for all the candidates.

Just who the hell are you in favor of?

Pure salesmanship combined with a notable lack of policy discussion beyond the wall thing and the usual nationalism and warmongering we always see on the right is hardly something I'd describe as "moderate." It sort of appears to be more along the lines of a typical scam than anything to me. I'm not sure that translates to "isn't very conservative" except if you look at some of his past statements which he has walked back in this campaign.

I keep wondering if he's going to walk to the podium at the convention and say "Wow, I really fooled you idiots. I don't actually want to be president. I was just trolling you." I keep thinking that surely he can't be as stupid as he's pretending to be.

Read up a bit on a Populist.

Surprise. A Donald supporter admits he does want Donald as president;he wants Donald as dictator.

Actually I'd like him to clean out the ruling elite on both sides. I'm supporting him because the alternative is a flat out liar and criminal. I was supporting Cruz but Trump it will be. I like many of his ideas like rolling back free trade, sealing the border. His will be a crap shoot for me as he was very close to a democrat a few years back.

I think he'll make healthcare single payer. I'm not for that, but there are more pressing problems in our country right now, mainly this ruling elite.

Read up a little bit on authoritarianism. I'm quite aware of what populist means, but this is a particular kind of populism. It's the sort of populism that brought us fascism. I'm not even talking about his policies -- it's his style. In the words of Marco Rubio (about somebody else), I think he knows exactly what he's doing. I just find it rather odd that he's doing it. It doesn't even strike me as particularly sincere, although it does sort of go with his reality TV brand.

I am pretty clear about how fed up I am with business as usual in Washington. Who wouldn't be? Congress is in double figures woo-hoo! 11% approval rating.

lol. Nonsensical, I guess an attempt at a rhetorical question. But what is the point you are trying to make? I have to vote for one of them? No I don't. I can do whatever I want.

The main thing I can do is keep pointing out the problem I have with both parties and that is their love affair with the war on terror along with its national security state spy apparatus, the increasing militarization of the police, etc.

Whoever will listen to that, be responsive to it, and ideally turn all that military and security state apparatus into education dollars, I don't give a **** what they call themselves. I will support those people. Nonexistent right now, lol.

Well, all I can say is that those in the documentary did not fit that description. I'll admit I know little, personally. It also wasn't all anti-algorithm -- it just pointed out a few problems with it.

Algorithmic trading would cover a lot.

High Frequency trading is a different matter. A Tobin tax should reduce that and it could be set up to hit such trading without harming the beneficial aspects of the stock market.

Umm... I'm pretty sure his name is Bernie Sanders, given your description. At least that's part of what I got out of his speeches, including quite a few that happened long before he was running for president.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with the US' distatrous foreign policy. Nope. It's all Hillary.

I'm sure that has nothing to do with Hillary. Nope. It's all the US' distatrous foreign policy (which runs itself).

We have the direct comparison with the last four years, and with all of John-boy Kerry's flaws and moronic public statements, he has eagerly tried to fix some of the things Hillary has broken. While the remaining harpies at State - that Obama let be there for some miraculous reason - broke some more.

That's okay. Trump won't have time for a war on terror, he'll be too busy with his wars on China and Mexico.

Boy, that was a dumb answer. I never said that she had nothing to do with it. I criticized your black-and-white thinking. That you can turn around and claim that I engage in similar black-and-white thinking by pointing out that such thinking is bad just shows how knee-jerk your reaction was. You didn't even make an effort to understand what I was telling you. Talk about being an ideologue.

You're projecting. Your answer was dumb because it reacted to a strawman. I never even implied that Hillary was the solely responsible person for the "distatrous" US foreign policy. The black-and-white thinking was in your head where it should have stayed instead of bothering the internet with it. That's what my mirror was supposed to show you.

You said this:

Yup, she's a war criminal mass murdering psychopath. The countries she dealt with are toast for most inhabitants.

This is what I was responding to. Perhaps if you took off your ideological glasses you could see something other than your own ideology.

I will post whatever I want and there is nothing you can do to stop me.

That's what my mirror was supposed to show you.

No, it just showed that you didn't grasp my point, and even now, after I've explained it to you.

And where was I saying that she is responsible for every crime of US foreign policy? She's responsible for her own actions which are quite well documented and include the real BENGHAZI! crimes which AlaskaBushPilot touched upon. You were trying to make yourself feel better with your little "witty" strawman-bashing, nothing else.

It's always easier to rant about abstract circumstances one can't do anything about than naming names of people whose "experience" in contributing to the former don't qualify them for even more powerful positions.
