Asking for 'backup with numbers' for such non contentious facts is just a form of diversion. It would take less time for anyone unaware of the facts to Google EU net recipients than it would to quibble and bicker in this thread.

Currency blow: pound weakens against EURO.

The pound fell in the wake of Boris Johnson's resignation from the Cabinet on Monday.

At 15.00 sterling was trading at $1.3261, down 0.64 per cent from the $1.3346 level at 14.40 when rumours of the Foreign Secretary's departure began circulating.

Against the euro the pound was at €1.1287, down 0.43 per cent over the same period.

The move suggests the departure of Mr Johnson makes a no deal Brexit more likely.

Sterling had taken the resignation of the Brexit Secretary David Davis largely in its stride.

It would have had the masses voted for remaining in the UK. It would have shut up or self purged the leavers because they'd have to choose between having a job as an MP or defecting to UKIP and hoping they'd make it past the post in their constituencies.

Bring on Labour, at least they have an ounce of sense.

Tbh I don't think they do. Or at least when it comes to Brexit I haven't seen it.

I don't know, I think the hardliners quitting is probably better for a Brexit deal. May should capitalise on this and just continue on with the plan that was agreed on at Chequers, actually having a proposal is better than not having anything at all.

Probably none of them, since Brexit is turning out to be a career ending proposition.
 
Just seen this on another forum as an answer to what people thought voting leave would mean.

Leave everything that is connected with the eu. Then we negotiate deals in our favour. Little bit like trump is doing for the states tbf.
Why do a lot of leave voters automatically assume that every country is going to give in to our demands for trade deals?

Do they not think that these other countries might want deals that are favourable to them?

President Trump isn't negotiating deals in the US' favour. Instead he is unilaterally backing out of deals and imposing tariffs with no clear path to an endgame advantageous to the US.

A disdain for the facts and magical thinking are two of the pillars on which Brexit is founded IMO.

Does Britain really count as Russia's second ideological rival? The Eu I could see, but if you had to pick a second nation I am not sure it would be Britain and not Germany.
 
Word on the wire is that the hard Brexiteers have conjured up the 48 letters needed to trigger a vote of no confidence in May. A meeting was set to start at 5.30 pm BST.
