Cont: Brexit: Now What? 9 Below Zero

I think some of them were interested in voting for a pro-Brexit leader so voted Johnson (and some voted Farage), or they wanted someone pro-Remain so voted Lib Dem or Green (or SDP!).

I doubt very many people found Labour’s incoherent dithering on Brexit to be their preferred option.

Which is the bit I don't comprehend. Brexit will last forever, Corbyn was offering a referendum to forestall the nonsense. I now see that the English people deserve the catastrophe, there is no one else to blame. All the Corbyn diatribe totally missed the point. RIP happy lives for the plebescite, your choice.

David Davis says putting “no extension” in law means EU must “blink” in trade talks and do a fast deal, as no deal ”will be much worse for them, much worse for Germany and Holland”.
Says EU wasted time over last three years to run down the clock deliberately to pressure UK.

A billion laughing dogs wouldn't be enough to fully describe me feelings about David Davis' pronuncement.

Thought we held all the cards

Offering to negotiate a deal and then have a vote on it? Yeah, total dithering.

The Tories lied. Jeremy Corbyn was the most smeared man in british politics.

Boris hid in a fridge.

Let's do the thought experiment about the headlines that would have happened if Corbyn had hid in a Fridge.

The tories lied with impunity and the Tory press failed to call them on it. The BBC slavishly followed that line.

There's no more democracy any more. the public are allowed to make a choice between whichever two candidates the tax exiled press barons approve of.

A left wing option will be pilloried and smeared to the point of unelectability.

Democracy s ******. We're leaving the EU off the back of a bent poll a buggered election and continued lies.

So true about media interference. The press really should be banned from advocating one party or another in the week running up to voting. This is because advertising does work. Influencers can make a lot of money pushing products on youtube. This is because mass propaganda/persuasion is known to be highly effective.

Freedom of Movement

Let's see what Priti Patel has to offer. She wants to stop FOM pronto. I notice Guy Verhofstad (_sp?) is threatening to delay approving the Withdrawal Bill until EU citizens receive assurances from the government.

So now it is the EU wanting an extension.

So, protection of workers rights and maintaining EU food standards are off the WA Bill, together with the reintroduction of 'no-deal'.

'The Prime Minister has ripped up the deal he made before the election'

Well what a shock

I hope we all enjoy our chlorinated chicken, uninspected pork, complete lack of workers' and environmental protections in our post-Brexit brave new world. :(

I suppose if the law makes the EU negotiators believe they have a hard deadline to work to (I don't think they believe in the concept of hard deadlines), then it may achieve something.

Without a deadline, it's in the interests of the EU to string out the negotiations forever. They want to keep us obeying their rules and paying them, for as long as possible.
Rubbish. You (again) demonstrate your bias and ignorance of reality.

This explains the dispute going on, as 'inbred' doesn't mean 'indoctrinated' at all.
Indeed.
Humpty Dumpty said:
"I don't know what you mean by 'glory,' " Alice said.
Humpty Dumpty smiled contemptuously. "Of course you don't—till I tell you. I meant 'there's a nice knock-down argument for you!' "
"But 'glory' doesn't mean 'a nice knock-down argument'," Alice objected.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less."

How? The UK is perceived universally as governed by untrustworthy, incompetent, greedy, idiots.

One of the few global perceptions that's actually accurate.

It's only the British public ('informed' by the British press) that can't see it.

Tory Donors take out EU citizenship

From reuters:

Cyprus government documents seen by Reuters show that Conservative Party donors have sought citizenship of the island, an EU member state, since Britain voted to leave the bloc in 2016.

They include billionaire Alan Howard, one of Britain’s best-known hedge fund managers, and Jeremy Isaacs, the former head of Lehman Brothers for Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Cyprus’ interior ministry recommended that both men’s applications be approved, the government documents show.

Oh? But...but...I thought they wanted their sovereignty back.
