Except of course that the UK is the one in the position of strength in the negotiations, and the Coronavirus induced economic crisis merely enhances that position.
Those German car makers are doubtless hammering on Frau Merkel's door insisting that the UK is given tariff and quota free access to the EU market without having to adhere to any of the EU's rules or being subject to the jurisdiction of any EU organisations.
The EU will doubtless announce that they agree to any and all of the UK's terms and furthermore they're very, very sorry for dragging things out and not doing so immediately.
