Brazil president blames white people for crisis

Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Thursday blamed the global economic crisis on “white people with blue eyes” and said it was wrong that black and indigenous people should pay for white people’s mistakes.

What a really clever thing to say!
I guess he doesn't mean me because my eyes aren't blue.

Oh please. Are you telling me that you don't know of any nationally known politicians who use illegal immigration as their key issue or as one of their key issues? Here, let me help you out a little.

But I'm not saying opposition to immigration is the same thing as blaming your problems on "blond, blue-eyed people", only that both have their roots in xenophobia. I'm not even saying that anti-illegal immigration people are wrong any more than I'm sayin da Silva is right. All I'm saying is that blaming your problems on foreigners is not unique to Brazil and indeed can be found in almost any country. Don't act so shocked.

Oh, and it is not necessary to suggest that I "stoop" to anything. I simply have some political opinions different from yours. It is not necessary to try to be insulting about it though.
