The problem was, I was assured the intelligence they had was totally reliable and unabiguous. They knew just what was going on and where to find it. Turns out that just wasn't true. Even if they find the motherload now, they are still damned in my eyes, as the reason they went to war has been totally debased.

The reason we went to war was to enforce U.N. resolution 1441. And the 16 other resolutions before that. That was the only thing mentioned in the White House statement on the eve of the war.The reason Germany, France and others didn't go along is because they were on the take with Saddam. The oil for food scandal is proving this. Saying that the war was totally based on WMD is liberal revisionist history.

"We're still finding traces of WMD in Iraq."

Please elaborate on this.

For starters..

This ignores the toxic botulism bacteria found in an Iraqi scientists home, hidden weapons programs, buried nuclear components and chemical weapons. On June 25th the Washington Times reported:

On the chemical munitions, Mr. Deulfer, who replaced David Kay as the head of the Iraq Survey Group earlier this year, said that the group has uncovered 10 to 12 bombs filled with blistering mustard gas or the nerve agent sarin.

Earlier on May 7, another improvised explosive device was found containing mustard agent. All such weapons were supposed to have been destroyed by Saddam's regime under U.N. sanctions and the terms of the cease fire from the 1990-91 Persian Gulf war.

On July 6th the Associated Press reported that:

In a secret operation, the United States last month removed from Iraq nearly two tons of uranium and hundreds of highly radioactive items that could have been used in a so-called dirty bomb, the Energy Department disclosed Tuesday.
Also ferried out of Iraq was 1.95 tons of low-enriched uranium, the department said.

''It speeds up the process,'' Oelrich said, adding that 1.95 tons of low-enriched uranium could be used to produce enough highly enriched uranium to make a single nuclear bomb.

It is unclear what if any of these radioactive sources were in violation of U.N. inspections, or how pure the Uranium was.

So the statement that no WMD have been found is false. What does seem to be true is that Saddam did not possess the great cache of chemical and biological weapons that the United States, the United Nations and almost all countries, including France, Germany and Russia thought he possessed . However, even small amounts of Sarin and mustard gas, if used creatively by terrorists, could kill large numbers of people. Of course, it is still possible that larger caches of weapons remain hidden in Iraq or, according to some unsubstantiated rumors, may have been shipped off to Syria or Lybia.

He's got a lot of political capital here in the U.S. I voted for him and I will crawl over broken glass to do it again. Liberal logic never ceases to amaze me. The liberals say that just because WMD's havn't been found yet, they must never have been there. Does that mean that just because we havn't found intelligent life in the universe, it doesn't exist?

We're still finding traces of WMD in Iraq. I guess I'm silly when I say that perhaps we just havn't found the motherlode yet, or that they might have been spirited out to Syria before the war.

Too bad you can't ask the late Mel Fisher if he thought the motherlode of the Atocha treasure off of Key West wasn't there, even though he was constantly finding traces of it before he hit pay dirt (sand)! :D

In one short post on Iraq you introduce two complete irrelevances i.e. the search for intelligent life in the universe and some sort of treasure hunt in Florida. You go on to indulge in idle speculation - the WMD's may have been given to Syria, - why not suggest they were abducted by aliens?

In subsequent posts you use Fox news and the Christian Science Monitor as refererence sources.

You really need to work on your critical thinking skills.

Best of luck!

An analogy is a literary device used to demonstrate a similarity in relationships. While the topics of extra-terrestrial life or treasure hunting are irrelevant, the analogy made from them is directly relevant to the topic.

Because one is a plausible explanation and the other is not.

Both Fox and CSM are respected news sources. Dismissing them merely because they appeal to a conservative audience is narrow-minded. Failing to recognize the proper use of an analogy demonstrates a lack of critical thinking.

The Bush Administration itself admits there were no WMD. The examples you are citing are a fig leaf even Bush and friends don't have the gall to hide behind.

not true. The US was getting ready for war as soon as the Bush administration was elected. By mid 2002, it was committed to war, no matter what the reason. The reason given was wmd and Un resolutions, but these were mere window dressing.
