WINDSOR, Ont. - Former NHL tough guy Bob Probert has died after collapsing with severe chest pains while enjoying an afternoon of boating with his family. He was 45.

The one thing about Proby was you never knew when he went out on the ice if he would make the play of the century or start the fight of the century but you knew he was going to do something.

Not entirely surprising. He's been an alcoholic since around 20 and for a lot of those years was also on cocaine. I even find this a little sad, and I'm an Avalanche fan.

It's a sad shame. I hated the guy, but I'm sure if he'd been a Bruin I'd have loved him. Too young to die.
