BNP leaflet through my door

I just received a BNP leaflet through my door courtesy of my postman and it makes me very sad that in this day and age we have a political party which may garner a sizeable percentage of votes in the local and European elections whose electoral platform is effectively "everything will be just fine if we send the darkies packing".

Their literature is scaremongering (i.e. "I'm a doctor and I know the effect that immigration is having on the NHS") without recognising that the NHS couldn't operate without immigrants (the two doctors in the flat below are from Sri Lanka and The Netherlands).

What makes them particularly objectionable is their assertion that to much melanin prevents someone from being British http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/8011878.stm. I'd point him in the direction of Ian Wright.

So, this has 100% ensured my participation in those elections and I'll also make sure that Mrs Don (in IMMIGRANT !!!!!!!1111!!!!, though now a Brit) votes too.

It just scares me a little that all it takes for racism to rear its ugly head is a 4% drop in GDP. What scares me a lot is that the BNP think that the area in which I live (comfortably off, muti-ethnic) is a fertile recruiting ground

Sadly I've heard/read a few times that the current MP expenses hoo-ha is likely to drive people to the smaller parties including the BNP. As if they wouldn't have been gaming the system just as much if they had the chance!

I binned the leaflet without looking at it - I felt like using tongs. These are truly horrible people and it saddens me that anyone will vote for them - but some no doubt will.

Its the first time I have had one put through my letter box up here. Made me very angry. I'd rather the local kids did the old dog doo and newspaper on fire trick.

They should remember what happened when they tried to come up here and stir up hatred after the young lad was murdered in Glasgow in a race crime. They were told to shove it by a lot of locals.

When I was canvassing in Glasgow East last summer I tried to leaflet one house where the householder turned me away with the exhortation to "vote BNP!". There wasn't a BNP candidate, thankfully.

There are a few scumbags everywhere, though I like to think they are relatively few and far between round here. I'm not at all surprised there is a BNP candidate standing at the Euro-elections - with these big multi-member constituencies it doesn't take much to appear to have a presence everywhere. And of course they're entitled to free delivery of two items by the Post Office by election rules. I'd get a lot more worried if I ever encountered a warm breathing activist on the beat.

I see they're still using the wrong spitfire.

I hope they come knocking on my door, because I can't wait to ask whether they didn't change it because they're incompetent, or whether they have such contempt for the electorate that they didn't think we'd notice.

I hope that the reason the postie delivered the leaflet is that they couldn't find a BNP supporter to do it in person. I would probably wish to take such a person to task about their views (actually, I'd like to beat the ever living **** out of them but I'm to much of a coward)

I had one too, and one from some outfit called UKF (End political correctness! No to immigration!). Both the leaflets went straight in the recycling but I felt a bit sullied.

I have tonight had a call from the local Labour party asking who I'll vote for, I told the caller Lib Dem and she still reminded me to use my vote so the extremist parties don't get a foothold here.

Let's hear from the soldier in the leaflet:

Stuart, who left the Army in 1997, first knew about it when it dropped through a relative's letterbox. The dad-of-two, now a corporate manager in London, said he rang the BNP's offices to complain and was told to "**** off".

He told The Sun: "I was completely outraged when I saw this leaflet. I think they got the photo off a website and the quote they've made up. They are scumbags and I'd never vote for them in a million years."

And there was much rejoicing in the land of Adequate.

You wouldn't actually advocate violence against those that hold offensive views, would you? I don't like what bigots spew, but I'd never initiate a violent encounter.

Hmm thats not the kind of mistake I would normaly expect Nick Griffin to make.

Are all JREF ukians ... brits ... english ... um, "over there", sane and level-headed people? I don't think I've ever seen anyone leap into the fray and speak up for the BNP.

If this was a thread about some reprehensible right wing USA political party, there would be a good baker's dozen people rushing in to offer support even if only under the guise of supporting free speech.

Or is the BNP just so openly reprehensible that we don't have anything close to them in the USA.

The BNP is an openly racist (they call themselves "pro-white") nationalist party. Can you think of any American equivalent that is regularly defended by JREF forum members?

The Republican Party?

This post was made purely in jest, and is in no way meant to be taken seriously. If you still get your knickers in a twist over it, I reserve the right to laugh at you.

Well, aside from MaGZ, no.

But we've had a couple of other temporary White Supremacists and Neo-Nazis (temporary, as in they didn't hang around for long after stirring the pot). It's possible they just haven't stumbled across a BNP thread to throw their support to.

Yeah the only one I can think of was MaGZ.

Yes, yes, I know you're not serious. I am just noting your post as an example of how sarcasm doesn't work on the 'net -- no matter what sort of loony opinion you post, thinking it's obvious you're joking, there is someone out there who agrees with it.

In the JREF forum itself, I can name at least two or three frequent posters who would agree with you if you meant it in dead earnest.

If the political party in question is racist I can understand you wanting to bin it immediately, but as an Australian who wants no more immigrants into my country I would be offended if I was branded racist.

I have no argument that controlled immigration assists the economies of most countries, but it is very bad for the environment, and although I can't speak for the USA, Australia is a very dry country and it simply can't carry anymore people sustainably.
