got a new Blu-ray playback +CD/DVD burner. Plextor PX-B-320SA
AMD Phenom II/4g memory (PC-8500 DDR II)
Graphics ATI Radion 4650, 1g pci e ddr-3 class memory)
issue:
Trying to play blu-ray disk, power DVD 8, Windows 7 "had to change color scheme back to windows 7" click o0k, shuts program down
Never had a problem with Cyberlink before. They offer no help except to reiterate the question.
Any help out there?

I get a popup like that, saying it has to change W7 to basic color scheme, or something like that. I ignore it, and it quickly goes away. Have you tried just not clicking on "ok"?

Have you got PowerDVD 8 Ultra? Cyberlink's website notes that Ultra is needed for Blu Ray playback:
http://www.cyberlink.com/stat/bd-support/enu/system-requirement.jsp

Software

PowerDVD 7 Ultra or PowerDVD 8 Ultra.
Note: An easy way to determine whether your version of PowerDVD supports Blu-ray Discs is to look for the Blu-ray Disc logo on the main screen of PowerDVD. If you don't see this logo, it is likely your version of PowerDVD doesn't support Blu-ray Discs.

I'd be aggravated as all getout if just plain PowerDVD 8 wouldn't play Blu Ray, but I'd also not be surprised.

I've got PowerDVD 8 playing BD, and it doesn't say it's Ultra. The page linked by ElMondo says that there will be a bluray logo on the program's opening screen if you've got the right version.

There is an option in the settings which is checked by default, that allows the program to automatically disable aero for better performance in BD playback. I would try disabling that, see what happens.

Also, generic advice: make sure your video drivers are updated, and run the cyberlink BD advisor to make sure it thinks you're HDCP compliant.
