Bloomberg for President?

Post-debate (and without my Larry Sanders/Bernie Sanders rant), I don't think Bloomberg did anything to distinguish himself at all. In fact, Steyer argued more forcefully that he was the only real democratic billionaire on the stage.

In all, I'd call the whole affair a draw, which means that Sanders still has a plurality. He probably won't walk out of SC the clear winner, but Bloomberg won't walk out of SC with anything at all. And that'll be the news cycle just before Super Tuesday. Bloomberg won't survive it - not with enough delegates to make it a good investment to keep campaigning.

This election will be a fascinating study on the intersection of money and votes. I think they won't be as closely correlated as Bloomberg hoped.

He definitely won't walk out from SC with anything when he's not even on the ballot.

My brain went straight to the Navy "Here we go again... same old song again..." marching cadence.

I would love to see his data. His campaign is as close as we're ever likely to get to a controlled experiment, seeing as how he waltzed in with no policy or name recognition and just started throwing dollar bills around.

Yes, that was my point. His strategy is stupid. He lost cycle after cycle - months, really - of news coverage. I don't think he'll make that up with Facebook ads.

As far as money per vote, Bloomberg will have made a very poor return on investment.

They might just say, "You still here? I thought I told you to go and revoke those NDAs! Bing! Pow!"

Except he did release the signatories from them. That made no one pay attention.

They all attacked Sanders and so have some other Democrats in interviews because they fear if he wins the primary he will lose to Trump. And Sanders looked pretty bad in the debate repeating his same old schtick. Sanders is still saying he can do all these magical things because new voters will back him up, IOW, a revolution.

He also said they weren't radical ideas because every one of his proposals is something done in other countries.

All of that is well and good but it is also theoretical and that's not a winning strategy.

Biden is just as scary as Sanders. He will lose to Trump for sure, waaay too many gaffs and too much baggage. But older Democrats ignore that and are drawn to him because he offers a false sense of security. If we trade Biden for Sanders we are no better off in defeating Trump. I don't care how many old people or young people they bring along. We need someone who can bring over the middle.

Bloomberg is more and more looking like Republican light. He makes a good case that he's a safe bet against Trump. I believe him. But I prefer to have a Democrat.

Steyer also has the problem he needs a voters' revolution. But he doesn't have much baggage. He's still on my short list.

And Warren is looking strong enough to win Trump. She's still on the list.

National polls don't show any clear winner against Trump. The top five contenders range 1.8 to 4.4% above Trump. There is really not much basis for rejecting any on elect-ability at the moment.

And Sanders being (or being viewed as) a radical isn't supported by the polls.

In what way are Sander's proposals radical on Health Care? Education? Etc?

Have you not been paying attention:

SOCIALISM!!!!

Oh, and the fact that the country that put a man on the moon (unless you happen to think it was mainly Germany) can't do what other countries do because of vague, cultural reasons.

Mainly though because I give it 2-1 that if Bernie gets in the billionaires will deliberately crash the economy and blame Bernie.
