Bleak/Post-Apocalyptic Books?

What are peoples opinions of "Folk of the Fringe" by Orson Scott Card? I've read it a few times and enjoyed it. I was going to say despite the mormon element but in fact I think the mormon flavouring gives it added interest.

Young adult, but Rite of Passage by Alexei Panshin.

Of a more dystopian bent, another young adult book, House of Stairs by William Sleator.

I have developed an interest in post-apocalyptic literature since watching then reading The Road. I also recently read, and was disappointed by Nevil Shute's On The Beach.

Can anyone else recommend me some post-apocalyptic or bleak literature or movies? I intend on reading Metro 2033.

------

Maybe not post-apocalyptic but I Like "World War Z" by Max Brook, the audio book version. It's read by celebreties like Alan Alda, Henry Rollins, Mark Hamill and the guy who played Jesus in the movie "The big Lebowski"

The Host, by the lady who wrote the Twilight series, was pretty darn good. Alien apocalypse maybe, but still an apocalypse.

If you want seriously wierd, post civilisation stuff, try the two book edition of "The Nightland", by William Hope Hodgson.
