Merged Bitcoin - Part 3

I thought was a minor brain fart on your part because it is a tautology. Mining is the process by which coins are exchanged. Saying "coins can be exchanged" is equivalent to saying "there are miners"
Are you really so determined to make up pure nonsensical just so that you can have an argument?

Sold/exchanged clearly means "you give me fiat money or a good/service and I transfer some btc from my wallet to yours".

Mining is the process that adds transactions to the block chain and unlocks new btc.

ben mckenzie's documentary reviewed well. still in limited theatrical release and not available for streaming yet
I'll take your word for it. I'm not disabling my ad-blocker just because a web site says what you want to hear.

yeah how much reach this movie gets is something i'm interested in. i'm sure i'll end up seeing the film at some point, in fact.

2026 bitcoin conference kind of a flop. bitcoin down $40k from last year's mark, kash patel and todd blanche spoke remotely to a mostly empty room for some reason. bitcoin ponzi schemer michael saylor spoke on the prestigious nakamoto stage, nod to the mythical christlike father of bitcoin, predicts a $200t market and $10m bitcoin price while various other members of government pitched other nonsense like treasuries and energy synergy with ai.
here's why that's unlikely to happen any time soon:-

$10 million is over two orders of magnitude higher than today. As you can see from the chart, Bitcoin's price is leveling out. The next peak is unlikely to go much above $200,000.

Even if it continued the past trend unabated it wouldn't hit $10 million until around 2040. But with Bitcoin becoming just another vehicle for institutional investment, and things like this, it's more likely to fall in line with other 'stores of value'.

US Reaches $1 Billion Seized Iran Crypto to Date:
"Just outright grabbed the wallets. Some of them may be typing in right now and might not realize their wallet had been grabbed," Bessent remarked during his speech at the Reagan National Economic Forum.
Imagine having a few million in your wallet and discovering that America just stole it from you. I'll keep my money in the bank thanks, where Trump can't get his grubby hands on it.

bitcoin continues slump after strategy's sale for cash to pay out it's dividends. along with their stock price, down ~17% in the last 5d.
The price is about the same as it was 2 years ago and about half the price it was 9 months ago. There have been more severe swings than this in the past.

might be the end here, running out of cash and need to keep the dividend payments going, stock sliding, can't buy bitcoin
Bitcoin has proven to be more resilient than a single scam company in the past.

Bitcoin went live on the 9th of January 2009. Since then it has attracted ~$1.2 trillion in investment. Until the majority of those investors pull out it will remain 'resilient'.

Now let's compare it to that well known scam company, Tesla, which currently has a market cap of $1.23 trillion. Tesla started production of its first car, the Roadster, in 2008. So in these respects Bitcoin and Tesla are very similar. Both have also been quite volatile of late, with Bitcoin now 52% below its peak in October 2025, while Tesla is 20% below its peak in December 2025. The difference is that Tesla produces products with intrinsic worth which people buy and use, while Bitcoin is nothing but a pot that investors stick their money in. If Tesla is a scam, Bitcoin is doubly so.

OK that's not quite true. I hear that Iran is asking for payment in Bitcoins for tolls in the Strait of Hormuz. So I guess it does have some use after all. Mind you with the US stealing Iranian Bitcoin wallets and sanctioning exchanges it remains to be seen how useful this is.
