Election day is almost here and no october surprise from the elephants. So much for that crackpot theory.....
 
Speaking of crackpots, 1inChrist's God told him that bin Laden will be captured on Oct 29, 2004. See? It's as good as done already!
 
Let's not be too premature. It's only Oct 26. I'm not one to underestimate Karl Rove. We still have a week of shenanigans to get through.

To be fair, it's not really a surprise if we expect it to begin with. One could argue that the rumors were sort of a self-disproving prophecy.

Although it's reasonably likely that the "October Surprise" theory was never really all that likely to begin with.

I really don't 'get' that post but I'll use it to springboard my own.

I think we can look forward to at least one more 'surprise' from each side before Super Tuesday. I'll be disappointed in both campaigns if it doesn't happen.

I suppose Binny L could be captured/killed before election night but I don't think it would swing the election either way. As many people would be swayed toward Bush for the capture as would be swayed away because of the timing.

It would be a wash.

The surprises should revolve around something in distant past that nobody's yet touched on. Possibly some newly discovered relationship (you fill in the type).

I'll make a prediction:

Bush is getting it on with Condie.

Kerry is getting it on with Teddy.

Well the eager beaver did get caught in his own trap. Too bad government officials and their henchmen aren't held to even a fraction of the same standards of veracity.

At this stage, with all the hoopla about this possible October surprise, if Bush (et.al.) announced bin Laden's capture, it might just backfire on him.

You know, I still wonder why there's been no major interview of Saddam Hussein by American journalists since his capture. Did I miss something?

I don't think it's possible because I think the martha fokker is dead and has been for three years now. We have not seen his face since November of 2001, and we have only been allowed to hear "tapes" of him "speaking," which are not at all reliably proven as his voice. I think he's being used as a sock puppet by the remnants of his organization. If only we had pursued them as well.

That is pretty interesting. Do you suppose they just now found the Handycam at the back of the cave? Where has he been all this time?
 
Well that Osama tape certainly is a surprise, and it certainly is October. But this is totally not what I expected.

The article from the AP almost made it seem like Osama was scolding the Bush family. He ripped into all three of them - GHW, GW and Jeb. He compared them to other families in Middle Eastern countries.

At the risk of sounding unpatriotic, although I certainly don't want to sound like that, Osama bin Laden on this tape sounds like a moderate! Well, a moderate terrorist. He doesn't seem to be nearly as nutty as, say, Zarqawi or Sadr or Amriki (the American guy on the other recent tape).

It's not a new tatic from him. It's not the first time he has tried to sound moderate (remember his "peace offfer" to europe?) .
