They took his body to be identified. Now that they have the dead body, what are they supposed to do with it?

Do they piss on it, **** on it, put a ham sandwich in his mouth and a israeli flag around his shoulders and light it on fire?

Do you have ANY IDEA what that would cause?

So lets say they didn't do any of that. But just tipped it over the side of a ship. Maybe pissed off the decks on it.

They killed him. They took him to be identified. Now what can they do that won't cause a BIGGER incident? Oh look. If you wash the body, clean it up, wrap it in a white sheet and then say the proper prayer, you can drop him in the ocean. No fuss. No Muss. No BIG issues.

ETA: You should also look at it from another perspective. By giving him the "proper" rites, they then dropped him over the side of a ship... just like they do with all the rest of the trash (IMHO). This is different from how US servicemen are buried at sea. I personally LOVE the message. He isn't even worth a headstone. Or a grave marker.

Yes, it most certainly does.

This is the BIGGEST, most high profile target we will ever get.

If we had dumped his body from a helicopter over Islamabad, wrapped in bacon, we'd have a nuke going off in DC or another high profile target in a week.

We did the right thing. Sorry that you disagree.

I take it those who think this is all made up by the US government also must think the Pakistani Government is in on it and are complicit in making themselves look either inept or as harbourers of terrorists.

With so many other reports of Bin Laden's death still circulating, why would anyone believe the fake photos and highly suspicious burial at sea (which was intended to "appease" the Muslim religion) are relevant now? There's a fake making the rounds - unfortunately it's connected to a facebook virus so don't open it there. I imagine it looks pretty similar though.
