Bill Clinton was Impeached

Without Bill Clinton, Hillary would not be considered to be president.

And without G.H.W. Bush, G.W. Bush would never have been considered for president, so f***ing what?

Bill Thompson said:
In Travelgate, the White House travel office staff was fired at the behest of Mrs Clinton so that she could fill those "slots" with "her people".

But no one died as a result of her cronyism. Tens of millions of dollars were not "lost" as a result of her croynism. Compare that to assigning young Republicans to manage Iraqi reconstruction:

Frontline: Lost Year in Iraq said:
Col. T.X. Hammes, a counterinsurgency expert, recalls the failings of key personnel involved in an organization designed to set up democratic procedures.

"They had no training and no background," Hammes said. "And yet we put them in charge of planning at the national level."

One leader, according to Hammes, was a 25-year-old in his first job out of college.

The young staffer told Hammes his team consisted of four fraternity brothers.

Hammes tells Frontline: "I never thought in my life I would encounter 'frat brothers' and 'strategic planners' in the same sentence."

That's nice, but my question was "How much did we know about Laura Bush in 2000?"
Actually, we know that she was at fault in a fatal auto accident, but to the credit of the Democrats, that matter has never, to my knowledge, been used as a slur against her in any campaign ad. Compare this to the lies that have been told about Hillary Clinton calling her a murderer. I guess it's okay since Clinton seeks the public forum, to tell lies about her, but not okay, since she shuns the public forum, to tell true stories about Laura Bush. I won't argue with the logic of that.

With the slaughter of one thousand mostly unarmed Somalians in Mogadishu (for no good reason, I might add since we fled after one day)
Hopefully you've brushed up on your facts since since the other day in this thread when you falsely implied that Clinton sent US troops into Somalia. Now that you know it was Bush senior, does your questioning of that decision still stand, or did it go poof into a cloud of partisan dust?

I'm curious if there are any young people reading this. By "young people", I mean people who were too young to understand the events of the impeachment when they were happening, but had to listen to a discussion of those events when they studied civics in Junior High or High School.

For people in that demographic, I'm just guessing that it was a lot more interesting than the impeachment of Andrew Johnson, and I'm wondering what that was like.

Me :) ! Let's see, at the time, all I gathered from the news was that Monica was infamous for something involving Clinton. Then he was caught lying like 68 times, and then he got impeached.

BUT NOT REMOVED FROM OFFICE!!111 OH NOES  !!1 Yeah, I grew up around Republicans.

Johnson was about a sneaky Congress passing the Tenure of Office and kinda-sorta catching him break it, or maybe not. But Clinton had sexual acts and tried to cover it up, so much cooler! But my teacher is a Republican, so there is still misinformation and, "Shhh, not appropriate!" But it was interesting to find out what it was all about, kinda like the 2000 elections.

Not directly. But that is not the point. The judge in her case gave her lawyers the OK to interview women in the whitehouse to show Clinton's pattern of behavior. It was then that Clinton and Jordon told Monica to lie in obstruction of justice.

Now, are you saying that harassment is not a crime?

Sexual harassment is illegal, but Clinton was never impeached for sexual harassment and never was found to have committed sexual harassment.

On April 1, 1998, Judge Susan Webber Wright granted summary judgment in favor of President Clinton, dismissing the Jones suit in its entirety, finding that Ms. Jones had not offered any evidence to support a viable claim of sexual harassment or intentional infliction of emotion distress. Ms. Jones appealed Judge Wright's decision to the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals, but before a decision on the appeal was rendered, Ms. Jones and the President settled the case on November 13, 1998.

In fact, by all accounts, including the Starr Report, Clinton's affair with Lewinsky, while tacky, immoral, and indecent, was otherwise completely consentual contact between two adults.

Also, if I remember correctly, Paula Jones' lawyers weren't questioning women who worked with Clinton, they were attempting to obtain a list of people who had sexual contact with Clinton.

Following the Supreme Court decision allowing the Jones lawsuit to proceed, pre-trial discovery commenced in which various potential witnesses were subpoenaed for information related to the Jones incident and, over objections of the President's attorneys, Mr. Clinton's alleged sexual approaches to other women.

It took me 2 seconds on Google to confirm my memory - and my google-fu is weak.

Without Bill Clinton, Hillary would not be considered to be president. Ken Starr was first going to use Whitewater as the grounds for impeaching Bill Clinton but getting evidence that he was linked was too hard. That was mostly Hillary's ball of wax. Bill Clinton is supposed to be the shining distraction to make Hillary look good, not bad. But if we want to focus on Hillary, that makes her look even worst.

In Travelgate, the White House travel office staff was fired at the behest of Mrs Clinton so that she could fill those "slots" with "her people". Filegate had nine hundred FBI background files on Republican officials illegally in the possession of the White House. During Fostergate, White House officials obstructed an FBI investigation into the suicide of White House counsel Vincent Foster. In the Whitewater affair, taxpayers were defrauded of millions of dollars while the White House obstructed the investigation every step of the way and paid off the silence of indicted counsel. The White House was rented off like a common bed-and-breakfast and coffee house. The Clinton Administration used IRS audits as an instrument of threat and vengeance on its enemies.

Perhaps worst of all, in what comes horrifyingly close to treason, the Administration permitted the release of CIA briefings and classified missile technology to China in return for staggering campaign contributions. But then again, that is going back to Bill Clinton. Is he off limits?
Yawn.

I dont remember a lot, seems like my mom was really pissed about the monica thing and really hated hillary clinton.

I got chicken pox during the OJ simpson trial, I remember a whole lot more about that.

It's been six years since Clinton left Washington DC. His effect on the schools there has been remarkable.

Hardly seems in league with lying to the whole nation to bring it into a war.

Maybe I'm misreading these arguments, but is sounds like people are saying that because what Bush did was worse, we can ignore anything that Clinton may have done. If that's correct, then shouldn't Bush be in the clear, since I'm sure we can find worse leaders in history.
