The man who saw Bigfoot bring the tree down is a JREF member named "bipto".
 
Wouldn't the Bigfoot that broke the tree then fall down along with the top of the tree it was on? And then we should have a Bigfoot body...
 
No such luck. Bipto said that the Bigfoot rode the falling tree down and was all good afterwards. I guess the Bigfoot then proceeded to go on with the rest of its day.

I'm impressed. Apparently all that padding that I've seen in Bigfoot images isn't just for show. :rolleyes:
 
But the making up and then telling of the story. How do you keep from laughing? You have to think it in your mind that you are going to tell everyone that you saw a 700 lb. Bigfoot way up in a tree and that he broke the whole thing down. Just that thought alone would have me rolling on the floor it's so ridiculous. Then to try to tell it to someone without laughing.

How long is a branch 45' up a tree that has a 24" trunk at it's base? For how much of it's length would it be strong enough to hold 700#? How much force would it take to accelerate 700# to 20mph in that little distance?

Is he a member here? He's now an ex BFF member.

As I understand it (I'm banned, so I can't check), he reacted badly to the incredulity over there, and has stomped off into the sunset in a huff.

I am a regular visitor to Africa, and I have seen elephants push trees over hundreds and hundreds of times. I have never seen one push over a tree that size. I have seen them operate in tandem, and fail to break off trees much smaller than that. So BF is stronger than 2 six ton elephants..........

Worse than that, no amount of force available would then snap off the trunk 40 feet below. The stress would be on the junction between the branch and the trunk, and this is where it would break, if it broke at all.

Well, this must all be scalable, right? So I plan to do my calculations on body mass, impact speed and tree trunk strength, select a suitable tree in the back garden (that tall skinny apple tree looks favourite, but we shall see), slam my body into the sucker and watch it snap.

OK, sprinting along a branch at a suitable speed might be my downfall (haha!) so I'll rig up ropes and just swing, Tarzan-like, to the tree's doom.

I wouldn't worry about it. They would have no way of knowing who to enforce that rule upon unless you use the same username there.

Even then you could just private message one of us the quotes/links and we could say we found them ourselves. :D
