Bigfoot DNA

At the rate she is going they will exist before anyone will see the data.

How long would it take a current primate species to evolve into a Bigfoot-like creature?

Real world statistics ~ Perhaps millions of years.

Footer statistics ~ Some time in the next few years, if it has not already happened.

She said in an interview that she did blind testing with different labs and the results were identical. They even used a forensics lab which specializes in handling DNA that is contaminated.

Did she happen to state how the lab was supposed to tell the difference between the human DNA from bigfoot and any 'contaminated' human DNA from the people who sent her the samples?

I'm sure there is some version of a paper, but it lacked scientific vigor. So thats why it will be published in a believer rag, if at all. even that would not matter, if she simply released the data she claims to have. there is nothing stopping her from doing that now - today! The paper she claims already gives her scientific precedence, even before it is published, so there can be no valid reason to continue to hide those data!

CWB

CWB,

Is it possible TheMelba doesn't have any "data" and that it is all made up out of thin air? How hard would that be?

IMHO, there never was an attempt to publish a scientific paper. Any paper written was done so simply to feed to the gullible fool who bankrolled TheMelba.

Hey Pigeon,
sure it's possible. and that is a valid hypothesis given the long history of vaporous claims made by the melba believers camp! But i think she does have some data, just does not understand how to analyze it, or more likely had to torture it long and hard to get it to say what she wanted it to say. once she got 20 mtDNA all human, then her task got alot harder - how do you fit those data into a preconcieved belief! (or keep the money Tap turned on?)

Trebor, parsing out contamination of the DNA is pretty routine now days. You can usually tell really quickly when that happens, and usually it does not make the data unusable - you just have to know how to parse it out!

CWB

CWB,

Parn's theory, IIRC , is that Native American DNA not in genbank was mailed to TheMelba from different locations around the country and she is interpreting it as BF DNA.

This would make TheMelba a fool perhaps, but not an outright con.

I find Parn's theory to be implausible. What is your feeling on any samples TheMelba might have? Assuming she has any and has tested them?

Yes,
I'm sure any serious investigation would take that as a big problem to lock down.

But how would the lab parse out human DNA from the contributers who sent Meldrum samples from the Human DNA "bigfoot" supposedly has.
Did they take samples for comparison from the people who handled the samples?

It would be interesting to see what the actual lab reports show about this.... but I get the feeling those details will not be revealed.

According to my sources all 20 mtDNA sequenced was caucasian or AA, non were NA or asian.......

According to Melba on Coast to Coast AM this past Sunday:

*Her lab employed forensic protocols to make sure they had clean samples (not contaminated)
*Each person who handled the sample had DNA taken for comparison to rule out contamination.
*Melba was naive about the characters in Bigfootery, such as Biscardi
*She wouldn't do it again because of all the crap she's gotten.

There are samples, data and a paper but what it all means, can't tell yet.

Listening to the interview, a great one by the way, some of the points that come to mind which Dr Ketchum made:

3) They have video evidence of a subject when a sample was collected
12) She was present when a sample was collected from an individual

To bad they won't show the video evidence, what's wrong with putting that out ?

7) The conclusion is that BF is a type of human, "tribes" exist in North America
8) BF is as smart as humans
14) BF is smart enough to evade humans

Sound familiar ?

What a joke, and the posts on that forum are just sad to read, how low can a person take them-self.

It's hard to be open minded about anything Bigfoot related these days, I'm a skeptic, but I'll take a look at supposed "evidence," the only problem is, I get tired of following this bollocks. None of it is even remotely near what we can call "science."

Does something sound...off about this:
"Hello, my name is Melba Ketchum. I made one of the greatest discoveries in decades but I'd undo it all if I could because people are mean about me on the internet."
:boggled:

What was the audience demographic for this radio show, ten-year olds?

And she and her Melbaites ll seem to ignore one fact! All of that scorn, questioning etc - ALL of it is self inflicted! Had she done her study right, following protocols being open and honest, she would have been treated with respect.
Instead she chose to go NDA secret Mumbo jumbo , deliberate leaks to keep her name in the press, lying - remember when the paper was just returned for minor edits - a year and half ago? and the now famous weeks rather than months, that originally surfaced a year ago as well.

Melba is getting almost exactly what she has always wanted - FAME, however the other thing she really wants - Validation as a real scientist - well that goal was crushed under her self inflicted, self directed dog and pony show!

Her fame will live on, once we either see the data, or she predictably loses it all in a computer crash, carjacking , house fire etc.

As i said before she will get in the scientific hall of fame - the only question is: which wing? will she be enshrined next to C. Miriam Hart, Joseph Grinnell, Asa Grey?
Or will she be placed next to guys like Jan Schon, George Hull,
Manuel Elezade, Shinichi Fujimara, Paul Kammerer, and of course Charles Dawson.
I give a lecture to my students every year about these guys, when I talk about the scientific method. And yes - our favorite self anoited scientist Melba Ketchum now holds a place of honor in this years forthcoming lecture. I am hoping I can say she eventually did the right thing and released her data for open examination, but for now, i will have to continue to point out she is behaving like the wizard - you cannot look behing the curtain, just trust me!

I think Jodie effectively responded the Parns theory.

I believe she has samples, no reason to believe that she has not processed the 107 she claims. so now:
1. she claims to have 20 mtDNA - all undeniably human
OK, that leaves 87 still not accounted for. BTW - those data alone - i tested 107 claimed BF samples, 20 came back human, XX came back bear. XY came back Raccoon, XZ came back coyote, XA were to degraded to get useable DNA - that right there would be a publishable paper in a respectable scientific Journal!

Anyway, so I am still trying to figure out where are these unacounted for samples.

I believe she has 3 complete genomes also, but I think they are nothing more than human, and that will be really easy to determine - if she does in fact choose to releasethose data (which I doubt she will do, because she knows exactly what the result of releasing those data will be!)

Now i am getting more and more intrigued by her repeated claims of high def video, not blob squatches but true video! i can't wait to see that!
As well as the supposed video of the british film crew that filmed the georgia Hoaxer blowing the head off a bigfoot in the woods! that ought to be good - apparently the film crew guys have someone storing the body for them - this gets better and better,. " hey, Melbas getting all the press - remember when we were national news with our suity stuffed with pig guts? we need to get back in the limelight!"

It seems that Justin Smeja's bigfoot was a bear:
http://bigfootevidence.blogspot.ca/2012/12/tyler-huggins-and-bart-cutino-shares.html

Each lab independently identified only two contributors (the presence of DNA from only two animals). They identified the primary contributor as Ursus americanus (Black Bear), and the secondary contributor as Homo sapiens (Human)...The only human DNA present in the sample was found to be a match for Justin Smeja’s own DNA.

I'd be curious to hear what Melba Ketchum and Derek Randles, who gave her the Smeja’s bigfoot steak sample (one of the "best samples") have to say about that.
