Bigfoot DNA

Emotion+hope+belief generally= bad results

I agree fully. While I might allow Ketchum to cast herself as an expert in genetic analysis, that does not in any way suggest that she's immune to making a colossal error in her interpretation of the DNA sent to her from alleged bigfoot-thigh-steaks.

True true. But as an expert of genetic analysis wouldn't she still be limited by known data? One can't do a sequencing, read the data and go "well, that looks strange....must be..... BIGFOOT!!!!" Can one?

It seems like the proper course of action would be a paper describing "DNA Description of Unknown (whatever the results say) in North America. If it's weird polymorphisms of human, then you make that your study. But you can't just jump , like a ufologist, from unknown aircraft to aliens!!!

I speak from experience: To achieve and maintain expertise across the genetics and DNA of many organisms past and present, to keep up to date on the literature from Neanderthals to norwhals requires a commitment to lifelong learning that I don't see Ketchum exhibiting.

Right. You can't dip your toe into something way outside your normal comfort zone and expect to have success at something that legions of lifelong scientists never accomplish. It's kind of like declaring your eligibility for the NBA draft because you've developed a hook shot that none of the neighborhood kids can block in your friendly games of horse. We're now beginning to see some things at a scouting camp:

"Wow, these guys are pretty tall."
"Oh, they're awfully fast and in good shape too."
"Man, how did that guy dribble past me?"
"Wait - you're supposed to move without the ball?"

etc.

Bingo. Of course, before you do this, you might talk to someone who knows more about human polymorphisms than you do, so you can decide if it's even worth writing the paper.

yes, but you'd have to upgrade that knowledge requirement to something other than comparative; just talking to "someone who knows more than you do" got her Richard Stubstad. LOL. :boggled:

. First, she describes herself as a "Moody Scholar". I Googled that and learned that the Moody Foundation has been giving scholarships to Galveston County high school kids since 1969...

No, what she meant was that she is a Moody Scholar every 28 days.

Has anyone verified that that is really Melba's Facebook page? I mean it really sounds like MikeyX, Sweaty or someone like that is posting under the guise of a scientific doctor.

accusation dully noted, fraid not. Troll attempt denied. this board needs a bird flipping emoticon.

Is the DNA testing taking so long cause the folks involved are trying to get it right and fit in with the Myth and not so much get it correct ?

Tim :)

The Melba has gotten herself into pretty deep water. She has established some very strong relationships, had some convincing experiences, and committed herself "intellectually" to a false proposition. I don't see any turning back for her. She may become a Bill Munns-type advocate, though that takes a certain personality type that I don't think she possesses. The other obstacle for her is that DNA analysis is much more objective than viewing a 58 second film strip.

Holy Snchnikies! did she really type Illusive?
They are real and most if not all of the people on FB here are believers. Please, let’s do this right so the world will know once and for all that there is a real and illusive creature that is alive and well right here in our own backyards. If I have any news I can share, I will share it here though, OK?

Melba: the coverup is usually worse than the original blunder; that is true here, when you wrote:
Since there is already an email about illusive vs. elusive. Illusive= like an illusion or imaginary. That is how skeptics see them. They also create illusion in that they are rarely seen and avoid detection. Some animals are elusive, yet there are many documentaries that are on Animal Planet and Nat Geo that show elusive animals studied with hidden cameras. How many folks have tried that with good success? Our subject goes far beyond elusive or they would have already been easily photographed with hidden cameras and plentiful footage obtained and thus already proven to exist, so they are illusive in my mind. Just semantics.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
give me a break.....

That's not all....
Robert Lindsay points out that Ketchum seems to have a pretty loose grip on the truth:
Ok, we have reason to believe that Ketchum is not being entirely truthful here. Because if you look at both of her posts above, you can see that they contradict each other. In the first post, she says she has seen a whole family of Bigfoots, and they were gentle. She was so jazzed that she keeps going back to see them, and it’s getting addicting. So she has seen a family of Bigfoots at what seems to be a single location on multiple locations. This location is no doubt a habituation site of some sort.

In her next post, she negates her entire first post by apparently implicitly denying that she had multiple sightings of the Bigfoot family at the habituation site. Instead, she had a single sighting of a large Bigfoot somewhere late at night. And she has not been in Oklahoma since 1995.

Yet in MNBRT radio’s broadcast in mid-October, Abe Del Rio has what is apparently Arla Collett-Williams as a guest. At the 1:40 mark in the show, Abe asks Arla if Ketchum has ever seen Bigfoots. Arla seems reluctant to answer. Then Abe reveals that Ketchum told him that she had seen Bigfoots in the past year in the company of Arla. Arla seemed reluctant to talk about this, and she offered that she didn’t know if Ketchum had been to “that cabin” or not.
I originally thought that Ketchum was a good ole South Texas sweetheart, a little naive, but honest.
I have changed my opinion.

"Bigfoot is Human!" ??!!

Does anyone have a breakdown of where the alleged samples came from?

One was from an allegedly shot beast correct? Where were the other ones from?

Robert Lindsay has listed at least the majority of them in several of his blog posts. As I recall they came from British Columbia, Kentucky, Arizona(the fingernail I think) and, the 'bigfoot steak' nonsense from the alleged Sierra Kill episode. That Lindsay reports on this as though it is fact is just amazing. There are others I'm sure. I got kicked out by Lindsay so I haven't visited lately but I will look in today. On my last visit it appeared that only a handful of people still comment, at least on bigfoot, he doesn't really like dissent.

Did they carbon date any of the samples?
Did they submit any of the samples to John Hawks to see where they fall in the Human Genome project?
