Bigfoot DNA

So, we are talking about a human population with a propensity towards pituitary tumors and a double-muscling phenotype like the Belgium Blue Bull. That's how you get to 8 feet 600 pounds.

In all seriousness, wasn't the rift between Stubstad and the Ketchum Hokum because she refused to check the results against GenBank? So now GenBank is the key to her argument?

I don't think so. But I don't know other than what Stubstad said, which is to imply that the break came when/because she lawyered up. No specific reason was given by him. Au contraire, I think she believed Stubstad's work, which then led her down the garden path on some samples that she had already barcoded as human.

I can visualize the KSDNA as someday replacing the PGF as the topic of our "how'd they do that?" threads.

I think that perhaps those who deal with the genes of pets have a rather slanted idea of population genetics. It is true that a Great Dane and a Basset Hound are both of the same species; but this large difference came about because of selective breeding by humans, not by some natural selection process.

That is a great observation about the KSDNA.

So.. The "hypothesis" would be that they created a "Great Danish Hound".. I prefer the strawberry myself.. anyway..

The ancestor(s) selectively "breeded" the tribes themselves for the traits of height ( males) and bad suits (females).

Like every parent I would guess/hope they would grow out of the "bad suit" phase.

But.. if Jr. isnt atleast 6'5 by first/second grade.. well.. lets find some really acidic soil and try again !

That must be what that tree knocking noise is all about !?

They'd have to go to town to grab another wimmen. See David Brian Mitchell.

Anybody here recall KRTHAP1? Hair Keratin gene?

Anybody here recall seeing any discussion about a hair keratin gene often labelled KRTHAP1? Seems like it would be a good target to differentiate between BF and human DNA, as it is present in Chimps gorrillas etc, but "absent"(mutation altered it to be inactive as far as I can tell) in humans, and seems to be involved in the production of long thick stout hair? Just wondering idf anyone recalls seeing any discussion on it from Meldrum? or Ketchum? or anyone else?

Poor Brian David... he was finally "outsmarted", eh ? Now there is a topic worth DNA Study combined with socialogical profiling . Perhaps his DNA might be a close match to the samples in the mix ?

:pTheMelba explodes/implodes on Facebook, showing an image of "stick structures", and relating her personal knowledge of bigfoot social issues, habituation and other stuff that she has found in the deep end of the woo pool. a sample:

Thought you guys might like to see the interesting stick structure I found when I was out of state this weekend. The base on which the sticks were laid were two broken cedars that were growing beside each other. This was not naturally made. I found a number of very interesting structures besides this one. The Sasquatches were playful to say the least and I saw an entire family of 5. I never get tired of that. Left me some huge footprints for the next morning also. This post is for the enjoyment of those that like this page. It has nothing to do with the paper but I hope you that have seen these types of structures will enjoy the photo. Sorry it was a little dark as it was already dusk when I found it. Maybe some computer genius will lighten it and re-post it.

Sasquatch are known to make unusual stick formations in the woods. This is a great example of an unusual one. This area is remote and it would take someone with hands to make it and it is also an area that is not open to the public. Those that have a lot of contact with Sasquatch or read a lot about them will recognize this. For the novices, welcome to the indescribable world of Sasquatch!

I do this for my own enjoyment. I know they exist because of their DNA and also because I have seen them. I have nothing to prove so I would rather see and interact with them without a camera than to not see them. I don't care if people believe it or not. It is just enjoyable to me. I am very thankful that they trust me enough to come out. Of course I have always had a good relationship with many species so I think that they know I am harmless. :)

Dr. Melba Ketchum There are a lot of people that see them easily like I do. Most just will not discuss it for fear of ridicule. I already have had a lot of criticism just doing the paper so I really do not care what people think or say or if they believe it or not...I will reiterate, I do this for my own enjoyment. The paper is serious but this adventure in learning about them is just for me. :)

Dr. Melba Ketchum Yes, once the interaction started, it is easy now.

so the differences between Ketchum and Sasfooty are...........um...........

Again, wow, simply wow. I keep asking if this can get any better, and I am continually stunned that it CAN.

Well, there ya have it. Last one to leave please turn off the light and close the door.

Munns made a run at Meldrum and lost, now Ketchum is trying to knock him off his throne but she will also fail, especially with nonsense posts like that.

It looks like she is just trying to connect with the 'footers by being one of them, hoping that they won't turn on one of their own. She is in for quite a shock.

This just opens a whole new series of questions:

So which Journal publishes a paper by someone who has seen a group of creatures with the supposed paranormal ability to detect cameras?

If, and this is a huge if, you actually are observing these creatures in our dimension, would you not think to bring back a stool or hair sample? Would you not bring an observer to give you an ironclad chain of custody?

Maybe you could go Jane Goodall and follow the family group (is it a pod?) until one dies and recover its body?

At least Meldrum isn't observing a Squatch pod, yet? And the Ketchum Hokum is the Footers great hope for proof of existence.

I can only imagine her presentation at the conference in Richland. At least she has something to talk about, too bad it has nothing to do with DNA.

I agree with everything The Jackel said. The stories and posts regarding 'habituation sites' have intrigued me lately in that many of those invested in this dna fiasco continue to ask for more "samples" (do I hear Richard Stubstad somewhere?). If you have an habituation site would you not be deluged with samples? If these critters are there all the time why would the lack of samples ever be an issue? Dr. Kechum should be able to say "I saw a bigfoot poop in the woods, and here it is!" It seems nobody in this whole dna thing has any idea about how provenance and chain of custody work. I have read posts by Stubstad telling us how these samples have been "vetted" , some by him, and it is just mind boggling. This whole thing is based on fake habituation sites, fake shootings of bigfoots in California, and seems accidently orchestrated by true believers everywhere.

Following the script, the next act should have a conclusion of bigfoot DNA being unique because it's paranormal. It can either be completely invisible or perfectly mimic DNA from a goat or whatever other animal happens to sleep in his twig hut.

I think the actual next play in the Trunk Monkey scheme is the "cronyism of science will not allow the paper to be published". But don't worry friends, I have seen them with my own two eyes, they are real, trust me (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). And, they will still believe. You never have to open the trunk to reveal it's empty. But I do like the morphing DNA idea.

and we shall all harumph together and drink 100 year old scotch as we scoff at their silly ways!!!!

HARUMPH HARUMPH HARUMPH!!

At least that's the way the footists will see it.

btw way, have any of you seen snow walker prime's videos? They are total Bigfoot gold. he says what we all think

The cynic in me says that Ketchum is trying to strengthen her claim that the modern human DNA she has is from bigfoots.

The scenario:
Ketchum's samples lab-out to be modern human DNA; some of them with a couple unusual polymorphisms. She says those are from bigfoot, according to the sample collector. Journal says, sorry. Ketchum says, ok, I SWEAR these are from bigfoots, I saw them myself. Journal says.... [u fill in the blank.]

Bili-Barule...

its not a stupid question but I will give you a trivial answer: every human probably has unique DNA (except of course for identical siblings).

All DNA sequences are not in GenBank.

But what about certain conserved regions and well known genes? There are many versions of these in GenBank. Are they exhaustive? probably not. Many if not most variants have little effect or no effect, and some make me look like me instead of like Brad Pitt. But none are known that make modern humans stand 8 feet tall and weigh 600 pounds, have glowing eyes, hinged feet, be nocturnal, and so on. But that doesn't prevent some folks from seeing an single nucleotide polymorphism in a hair color gene and saying "oh look, everyone knows bigfoot has kind of sort of maybe reddish hair!!!!!! We proved it!!"

Questions:

  • Are variants in conserved regions affecting size and other traits with other cataloged primate species?
  • Is it actually something that has been documented?

In the spirit of those questions, I do find these Chimpanzees very interesting - The Congo Bili Apes
(see wikipedia and search on "Bili Ape")

Sorry, I don't have enough posts to post live links just yet...

Some particularly interesting points in the the overview (if the information is indeed accurate):

1. They are significant in size and hold the largest confirmed great ape foot size at 11 - 14" in length.

2. They are a chimp sub-species but are massive and over two times the size of regular chimps at 200 - 270 lbs.

3. They look like large chimps but also exhibit some Gorilla-type features not found in standard chimps including large saggital crests and complete body hair 'graying' (often at relatively early ages.)

4. They are knuckle walkers but are often observed walking bipedally as well.

5. They build ground nests like Gorillas and often snap smaller trees in half to provide low ground canopies over their nests

6. The wild groups seen by scientists will circle and inquisitively observe humans that traverse through their territory.

7. Their diet is mainly fruit-based but they have been witnessed stalking and charging territorial intruders stealthy (NOT open aggressive display bluff charges and vocalizations as Gorillas do.) Their bluff charges include stealthy following/stalking before the charge - i.e. predatory behavior... Though I have not found affirmative accounts of witnessed predatory kills... the locals do refer to them as the 'lion killer' apes...

8. First documented in the Congo by scientists in 2003, it is now estimated that up to 10,000 of these apes exist in the Congo.
