Bigfoot DNA

So some bushmen left southern Africa, turned into bigfoots, and dispersed across Europe, Asia, and North America. Sweet.
They are human.
They are of human form as long as they take a shower every day. But if they get B.O., they turn into Bigfoot.

Then when they get close to a camera (or die) they turn back into human form.

I think you are on to something and I may have uncovered "the secret". Check this out...

An 11.5Ky-old female skull was found down here in Brazil. Skull morphology (yeah, I know, its has its shortcomings) indicate she may have been linked to Africans, Indigenous Australians and Melanesians. It is supposed that her people arrived to the Americas in an early migration wave, being later replaced by the ancestrals of modern Native Americans.

See? Bigfoots are humans, these ancient people are still around, they are bigfoot.

Now, shall we co-author the paper with Ketchum?

IIRC, on a more serious note, I once wrote (its nothing but sheer especulation) that these paleo indians may eventually have been at the root of some wildmen myths from Native Americans. Not as unknown primates, but as the result of a dehumanization process plus some creative story telling about how fierce were the enemies.

Step 1: Send off war party to go attack people in some far off valley.
Step 2: Get beat to a pulp by those people you went to attack.
Step 3: Return home with story that the people who beat you were giant hairy monsters and a warning to never go to their forbidden valley again.

How about:

1. Instead of hunting, you got lost in some valley
2. You don't return home for three days, your horse is lost, and you are missing a shoe. You bring back no food for the tribe.
3. Tell about the valley you found, with Giant hairy beasts that held you captive and ate your horse, and took all of the deer that you killed. They communicated with you in the spirit world, that your people should never step in this valley, or they will come and steal your children.

As a matter of fact almost any enemy tribe would be bigger and hairier than the Inuit.

I don't know how many of you have been following Richard Stubstad and his dna follies but I visited his website just now and I have no idea how to take this guy. His involvement in bigfootery is the usual 'accidental' discovery that a giant ape was possible here with a quick assention to the Erickson Project. It is difficult to say what drives him in this, but he is either a complete, credulous believer or a hoaxer with too much time on his hands. He is claiming samples of bigfoot dna but appears to not understand provenance, chain of custody and all that goes with presenting evidence. I am wondering if anyone knows anything about him other than what appears on his website and what opinions others have.

It's funny how quiet all of the bigfoot DNA proponents, And "Melba-ites" have become suddenly. And almost no-one is talking about the Sierra kills, and the "Bigfoot steak" anymore. Think they realize that the jig is up??? Nah. They'll never admit they have nothing.

Or
Step 1: Same as above.
Step 2: Beat the squalid starving people to a pulp.
Step 3: Return home with a story that the people you beated were giant hairy monsters. That'll surely impress the chicks and the kids more than the truth.

The point is that they will always be able to find human DNA. So it is just a matter of convincing each other (not hard to do) that the human DNA represents an "unknown primate". There are a number of ways to attempt this manipulation, most of them based on the audience ( and the "investigators") being largely ignorant of genetics and DNA and underlying logic, math, probability and scientific method. Some methods, however, would involve misreprepresenting the origin of samples and the results of lab analysis. And of course, the footer community is a seething mass of paranoia, gullibility and conspiracy theories, populated in part by "knowers" and is largely closed to rational input.
So they will insist that all sorts of polymorphisms in human DNA represent markers for Sasquatch. Mainstream science will scoff. The footers will afford Ketchum and her DNA tests the same reverence they do to Meldrum and his feet, Fahrenbach and his hair, Chilcutt and his ridges, Swindler and the Skookum cast, Patterson/Gimlin and their movie, Munns and his inventory, Freeman and his casts, and the infallibility of Krantz.
Bigfootery is a cult. Cults always find a way to deal with cognitive dissonance; witness the newly minted theory that the real reason Ketchum bailed on the Honobia conference was not that she had nothing to present but rather that the Planck Institute in Germany sent plane tickets to Ketchum and requested that she appear personally before "them" so "they" can judge her personally. The fame and fortune seekers will continue to invent new "evidence" and exploit new media vehicles in hopes of striking it rich in a field that really doesnt need good science to thrive.

Not only does it not need good science, it needs to stay as far away from it as possible. 'Good science' would literally kill the field, and Meldrum and his ****-for-brains cronies absolutely know that.

Thanks to everyone for wonderful input, Parnassus, Harry Henderson, et al. I hope that Harry allows me to use his 'as far away from good science as possible' reference in future posts to other forums. WP's Melba Toast exactly portrays what I think is happening with her "dna project". The more I read about bigfoot on the sites that do nothing but promote bigfoot/sasquatch as fact the more I realize the futility of counter argument. Off topic, but I am going to a ghost seminar type presentation on Thursday at a public library in my area(N.IL.). I hope I can keep a civil tongue.

The Bigfoot DNA people have a serious conundrum.

They can't say bigfoot DNA matches human DNA.
1. If bigfoot DNA matches human DNA, then they have discovered nothing.
2. If bigfoot DNA matches human DNA, then the stuff about mid-tarsal breaks, gigantic size, lack of tool use, lack of fire use, hair that does not match human hair, colorful glowing eyes, ability to detect infrared, MUST BE DISCARDED.

If it matches human DNA, then we should simply have a hairy human.

If it matches human, then whoever shot two of them and removed hunks of their bodies is in trouble...along with any scientists who had hunks of a human brought in for testing and didn't report that...or recognize it...

You're still assuming that cognitive dissonance is a problem for them. I don't think it is. I just don't think it registers.

Case in point, check out the discussion I'm having at the BFF today on bigfoots in Ohio.

From reading Stubstad's blog, I get the sense that he is another self-promoting type whose blather far exceeds his self-taught understanding of genetics and DNA. I would suggest that he and Ketchum were "the blind leading the blind", and that Stubstad's "statistical analysis" and assessment of the first two samples made Ketchum think there was "something in it". I would speculate that she has since discovered otherwise. Imo the only way she will get her "series" published in a reputable journal is to write it as a negative study ie "100 purported Bigfoot samples prove to be 8 swans a singing, 7 lords a leaping, yada yada."
