Bigfoot and the Trolls

'Patently absurd'? How, ummmmm uhhhh, so exactly? Internet squabble? Length of the article? Its existence period? Oh wait nevermind, I found it, that's just your opinion.

So anyway, are you saying Bigfooters and Bigfoot are not interrelated? Let's pretend you really are saying that (you're not, right? right?): Is Bigfoot the only subject there in that pile worth 'reporting' on and since it's supposedly not about Bigfoot it's...errr? I mean, being that silly Bigfooters are just people and people are never news-worthy? Wait, you mean that just Bigfooter people - and especially ones on the Internet - aren't news-worthy? BTW, did it occur to you that Bigfoot is in fact really and solely about Bigfooters? That they are actually, for all intents and purposes, one and the same? Probably not.

The 'reality' (that word again - whose meaning JREFitis™ often suppresses) is, and really, listen up all you 'news-worthiness' judges, news is as news does. What's not important to you might actually be important to somebody else. Unbelievable huh?! Ironically, and keeping more in line with the concept of 'honesty', I personally REALLY DON'T ******* CARE that 'this story' is or isn't 'news-worthy' - in my original original 'critique', I was mostly pointing out seeming hypocrisy - that one claiming something un-news-worthy simply because its basis was rooted on <gasp> the Internet is pretty numbskull-ish given that 'same one' apparently spends what I would deem an inordinate amount of time and energy embracing that same Internet i.e. 3,300 posts. Now, having contempt for the very things you embrace isn't a new concept, but don't be misled by thinking you won't have to ultimately answer for why that may be so.

Is your argument in the first paragraph supposed to suggest that anything people do is newsworthy? It's not about them being Bigfooters, it's about them being Bigfooters with zero public profile; who are not doing or achieving anything even in the field of Bigfoot research. I'm not going to bother with all the side issues you try and raise as I never said any of that in the first place. God forbid this isn't about JREF being better than BFF, or 'JREFers' being better than 'Bigfooters', as you seem to be reading it. I'm not hugely fond of the JREF forums, as it goes. And I'd think it similarly absurd if an argument on here found itself being seriously reported in a newspaper.

And how is a person who posts on the internet saying internet postings are not newsworthy hypocrisy? Has he ever demanded a newspaper report on his postings? Do you never do anything unless you think it ought to appear in a newspaper?

And just so it's clear in my mind, what exactly is your 'argument' for it not being news? Oh yeah, because news can only be about things that we can touch. To coin a phrase...'great argument'.

So, you agree that Bigfoot doesn't exist, or is it something to do with its physical nature that renders it untouchable?

My argument for it not being news was clear: "silly little sham". I'd say the same of Paris, but did you hear how she's been barred from entering Japan for cocaine possession??? :D

In case you're interested, HarryHenderson, your use of the word "shill" told me I could stop reading your post whilst missing nothing of interest or value.

I've been here over a year now and it's about damned time someone accused me of being a shill. It kind of feels like a badge of honor.

So... uh... when do shills get paid? Is this like filling in surveys online with payment per piece of shilling, or are you on a salary? What's the money like?

They get paid in shillings, which they have to exchange for euros, which then have to be exchanged for American dollars if that's where they live. It's a very complicated process, it can take years for a shill to get their shillings exchanged properly, and since the rate of exchange changes daily, I can't really tell you how much they get paid in the end. Sorry.

This guy wants to be someone important. He didn't get enough attention as a child, I suspect. He had been warned before on the BFF and he didn't listen, so got the boot. His screaming holy murder made very little difference, the BFF was on its last legs anyway. He just wants to feel like he's powerful. The shrinks have a name for that. Delusional.

Thank you :)

He is a member of the new BFF but has no postings (i think)

Why is he bringing all this up again, if it happened ages ago?

I find the 'hourly updates' of Paris Hilton's exploits beyond un-news-worthy, yet I'm inevitably bombarded by them anyway. Bigfoot is at least as 'important' as Paris Hilton isn't it? No? ;)
I wouldn't care if I never heard another word about Paris Hilton, but at least she exists; you'll have noticed that most of the news stories about her include photos or video of her. Of course, many other non-existent things feature in the news, but I tend to think the real ones are more important by virtue of their reality.

Bigfoot and the trolls

I think HarryHenderson may have thrown his toys out of the pram and gone home, zooterkin. He seemed very put out by people disagreeing with him, and pointing out his errors.

the whole thing really hinged on his link to his website.

About every two weeks he writes up whatever he's been doing and posts it at bigfootbooks. Sometimes it's several little articles. Then he would go to BFF and post, as a new thread, the titles of his new articles, his contact info, and a link to his site, which is his bookstore business. So on that particular day, he listed, I believe, the titles of three articles, which were, as I recall, something like "What is a Bigfoot Encounter," something about black panthers, and something about a biography or a bibliography.
That, plus his contact info and link, were all there was to the OP of this new thread.
So I wrote to the effect of 'so what is this thread about? bios, encounters, or panthers, or really just a billboard directing people to your blog where they can buy your books?"
So then some other people kind of picked up the idea and didn't appreciate him making pseudothreads just to link to his website. Well, pretty quick he posted something on his own site, about an "insane" discussion on the BFF, and the BFF kicked him out, reasoning that if he was gonna link to his blog, then he couldn't be writing things there suggesting that there was something "insane" about the BFF.

Then of course he went all First Amendment/Nazi/communist party, outing as many BFFers as he could, claimed he really didn't sell "bigfootbooks", that his website wasn't a commercial enterprise, then allied with Melissa H, and finally claimed credit for the downfall of the BFF. He may even be claiming credit for its reinvention. Maybe he will cure cancer tomorrow.

Megalomania; disordered thinking; paranoid ideation, ahistorical references.

I couldn't be bothered to read past page 2, would someone be kind enough to explain what the ranting is all about and why it's being brought up now?

Thanks.

A bunch of people behaved like douchey, cliquish high school students, and the author desperately needs an editor. That's what I got out of it anyway.

This seems as good a place as any to say I no longer have any association with the sfb or the Hoveys. You may not care, just making it known. End derail.

I think I've heard that before.
If it's true good for you, but I'll withhold my jubilation for now.

It is very very true dude, mutually verifiable. They are but a sad waste of three years, I would like to go back and flush. Again if you don't care, I understand.

I know you have been banned from many forums but you can go back. BFF has full amnesty and MABRC announced conditional amnesty. But MABRC just had some sort of a meltdown and is starting over from scratch.

MABRC announcement said:
Due to a recent hacker attack, we are having to require all members of the forum to re-register. The data from the old forum will be readded in the next few weeks.

Streufert is using the Comments section to lay misleading baloney on the readers of The North Coast Journal.

Evidence? Remember, people once scoffed at the existence of the panda and the gorilla.

But we do have a film, the PGF, that has yet to be proven a hoax (despite many debunked claims), and has not been convincingly replicated even by modern film folks.

There is hair that comes up as "unknown primate."

There are footprint casts that show convincing dermal ridges that have been accepted by a professional police forensics officer.

Of course, there is much more...

More? You mean Enoch?

One's just gotta love all of this ad hominem stuff. Little do any of you know of me, my activities, my motives, my own actual beliefs, nor the chain of events that occurred on the BIGFOOT FORUMS. Parnassus knows some, as he helped out in the argument there. Since, it seems, we get along decently here and on the new BFF.

I was "warned" about NOTHING by the crony crowd that was then in charge of dictating arbitrary enforcement of the rules on the BFF, and who were using it for their own sardonic and cultish stomping ground. I did nothing out of line on there. I did not overtly promote any form of commercialism, self-aggrandizement, or self-deluded propositions. All I did was try to share my blog, something I spend a lot of time on for the love of the subject, not to make money or build my ego.

I have never been a Forums maven or troll, or anything like that. I was simply posting on there to spread word of my blog, which to me seemed like I was sharing something. I was just offering this to the Bigfooting community, that is all. No, I am not trying to be "important," nor did I ever claim to be the "cause" of the BFF's downfall. No, I am not being a whiner. There was injustice, and I commented upon it. I helped expose it. It needed to be done. That place was out of control, an obvious fact. Thankfully, it is a far better place now; though, I'd love to see the archives brought back.

I was attacked by the insider-group in charge of the BFF at the time and their buddies. I tried to respond reasonably, and was attacked even further. For nothing. Calmly defending my position that I was not on the BFF to sell books only incited more attacks, and I was accused of talking back to the head honcho then, Teresa. As if I should act in some kind of awe-struck deference toward her holy highness! Even then, I was not even being confrontational nor disrespectful; if I quipped a bit, it was in a joking tone, perhaps not noticed by the knee-jerk reactions that were going on in that thread. When I commented on this on my blog (NOT on the BFF), that is what bothered them even more. Yes, I also noticed an "insane furor" on the BFF over the ENOCH book. I thought it was a wild and interesting, but also an unbalanced one tending toward slanderous expressions about Autumn Williams, the book's author. So, I said this on my blog. That's all. I never called anyone in particular "insane" on there, nor on my blog.

Attacked by a pack of rabid dogs, treated trollishly, accused of things that I had not done, and all of this BY the moderators, the very ones supposed to be preventing such misbehavior??? To me, it was obvious that this situation had to be exposed, commented upon, satirized, and hopefully changed. I tried to do so on my blog. It was a JOKE, folks. It does not make me prone to "Megalomania; disordered thinking; paranoid ideation, ahistorical references." Give me a break, please. It was like a POLITICAL CARTOON, Parnassus. Don't you see that? It was not a literal attack, it was a caricature.

Brian Brown, the founder of the BFF, was in my shop here a week before he shut down the original BFF. We talked about this. He AGREED with my position, though he obviously felt some chagrin over some of the satirical graphics I had made and the facetious "boycott" I had stirred up. He said that some "big changes were coming," and seemed to recognize that what had happened to me on there was at the heart of the problem with the Bigfoot Forums. He was not angry with me. He sympathized, and concurred with what I said about the problem. Jerry Riedel, another old-time moderator on there (Tugboatwa) was in my shop the day before Brian. He, TOO, agreed with me. What more can I say? That is not me trying to claim credit for anything; but it was clearly no coincidence that both of these guys came all the way out of their way to Willow Creek to come and talk about it.

For your information, too--this article was the cover story of The Journal that week, the feature article, and it covered five pages of the paper. Bigfoot was on the cover weeping over his computer. It was NOT a story about "Bigfoot" or even "Bigfooting." It was about how crazy the internet can be, and how one local blogger got caught up in something much bigger than he'd expected, and how it affected something quite huge in the admittedly small and counter-cultural field of Bigfoot studies. Before that my blog was fairly small in readership, now it gets much more attention. I'm glad about that, but I never really wanted to cause turmoil. I only wanted fairness and justice, and when I saw that there was no strictly logical way to get--and to spread attention to the problem--that I decided to go with humor and faux-emotional exaggeration. Yes, what I did was propaganda, but it was funny, at least to me. And it was a frank fact that those nasty trolls on the BFF really deserved it. Overwhelmingly, the commentaries and responses I got over this were POSITIVE. People were glad I'd stirred up the sh**, and done whatever small part I played in the mess to hopefully change things for the better.

So, let's move on, eh?

Best,
Steve
