I mean, seriously. This things spreads by people interacting with each other. 99% of our global economy depends to some extent on people interacting with each other. Shutting all that down to slow the spread of this thing isn't really a desirable or sustainable solution. We should all be focused on finding something better, and moving beyond widespread quarantine, as soon as possible.

My theory is that regions should work on building up prophylactic resources and hospital surge capacity, and that as each region comes online with these things, quarantine restrictions should be loosened and the virus should be allowed to spread somewhat in that region. As each region passes its peak, it can forward its equipment (ventilators, surplus masks, etc.) to the next.
Ultimately, this thing does need to spread. It needs to make its mark on the global immune system, and become part of the annual flu landscape. Slowing the spread to something manageable is obviously a critical part of the solution, but it can only be a part of the solution. Depend on it too much, for too long, and it'll cause even worse problems down the road.
