We need to adopt Australia's gun policies. They worked stop spree killings.
You cant really Ken. Before Australia ever went about the (poorly handled IMO) business of gun buy backs and confiscation we had two things in place that America does not; minimal handgun ownership and gun registration. Also there is the mindset to take into account, even when we
could have guns most of us never bothered as we had no need and those that did usually owned one or two, not arsenals.
So when it was decided that we would do away with them, we pretty much already knew who had what.
Australia's solution worked for Australia as it was set up for Australia, America has to find it's own, different solution.
But, on the other hand, the argument that "it can't work in America, we are too unique" is as dumb for this debate as it was when used in the health care debates. Unless people want to admit that Americans' are dumber than everyone else on the planet they should stop implying that Americans are incapable of learning a damn thing from the rest of the world and incapable of succeeding at things every other modern Western democracy has managed to do.
Ironically it is usually the people that promote themselves as the biggest patriots that tend to imply Americans are too dumb to achieve things like health care or gun control.
