Ben Carson is a Creationist

I kind of don't care if he's a creationist.... so long as he doesn't put those values ahead of the constitution. That would more than likely be his trip up, besides his campaign mismanagement issues of late
Ultimately, when someone is actually that far removed from reality, it can't be compartmentalized. More precisely, a voter shouldn't assume the fundamentalist candidate is able to compartmentalize.

So how about his claims about the christian basis for this country and the the constitution is a christian document?

Orac had a good post on this today.

Most doctors are not scientists, Ben Carson paper bag edition

Using science in your job is different from grasping how science works.
Yep medicine is more like engineering, a field that's prone to creationism and related stupidity.

Why is anybody surprised at this?
They shouldn't be; basically to be a US Republican candidate you have to adhere to the party line of woo; climate change isn't true, evolution isn't true et cetera.

The logic known as "duh" would dictate that its not a issue so long as the faith is executed in a way that makes the policies work well for the country. Im already beyond the point of whether he is qualified... i dont think he is in spite of the benefit of the doubt i give him.

And no... the constitution is not a christian document AFAIC. I am far too aeitheist to go that route.

Just ask Carson, it is a christian document because this is a christian nation.

If he believes the constitution is a christian document that's his prerogative much as if he thinks America is a Christian nation. If he can compartmentalize and separate his religious tenants from the job of POTUS, great. But if not, then he can remain in his current position as a neurosurgeon where he has apparently been more successful. I don't care if he's religious, but if he wants to shove that ideology down my throat he's not an ideal candidate for me.

FYI, Carson is retired from his career in surgery. He had already moved on to working as a movement advocate, earning his living through his column in the Washington Times, book sales, speaking fees, etc. The presidential campaign is a step in his new career, not a detour from his old career.

Shoving his ideology down peoples throats has been his job for quite a while though. For example clearly you don't take any real issue with an executive who firmly believes that the first amendment only applies to christians. Why do you think he supports rights for christians that he does not support for muslims? Though I have to wonder what he would think of a Quaker refusing to issue concealed carry permits for religious reasons. All his arguments would be in support of that.

How many different ways must I state that I stopped considering him a viable candidate? I have stated conditions under which he could be viable with his traits, however being that he is inexperienced and probably unable to compartmentalize, he is not IMO ready for POTUS.

I should think that respecting his position can be different from thinking that his ideology is fit for the White House.

If he is going to have a position like that, he cannot honestly tell me his views are constitutional. If I come across as monotone... sorry but I'm just not emotionally invested... I'll find someone else to give my vote to

And I am sure you respect David Barton as a gifted historian too.

And I am sure you...
Mind reading i see... argue as you wish. If saying i dont vote for people who cant do the job properly isnt enough to get the point across i dont know what is. you are practically arguing against a position that agrees with you... which is quite strange but whatever

During the last debate, I actually developed a bit of respect for Ben Carson after he corrected Trump about how vaccines cause autism. He was one of the few national Republicans that I had seen lately who at least has some public respect for the scientific process....[/i]

Whatever. In the end, Ben Carson is Black - and because he is Black, Republicans will never really support him. So, Ben Carson doesn't really matter.

Don't teenagers say that?

Your post once again shows the obsession the left has with race.

Life is so much easier once you realize the republicker candidates/politicians are all either
evil or idiots. A large number are both. None have the slightest interest in what you need.*

Republicans are the party for the rich and corporations while democrats are for regulation of expansion of government to "protect" society... so the saying goes. It is in a sense a never ending irony because in the end both are run by people who are corruptible.

That is a partially incorrect meme. The size of government hasn't gotten small under republican control. It's sad so many people believe otherwise.

A working person voting for the GOP is like a chicken voting for Col. Sanders.

Working people have been voting for the Republicans for over 50 years and have been getting screwed. Chickens ain't that stupid.

Quit insulting the intelligence of Chickens.

My chickens never do. I keep trying to get them to just vote straight party all down the ballot, but they keep having nuanced positions. And their penmanship on the mail-in ballot is atrocious. I swear, it's almost not worth registering them in the first place.
