The words "Uniting all Christians as one body" is at the top of every page... ???... I'm not sure what it means but I'm willing to bet its a metaphor of some kind.

You know, I've heard that quote a lot, both as a Christian, and as a deconvert.

To my off-kilter thinking, it has always conjured images of a giant blender. And then I would get it mixed up with the 'body of Christ' metaphor for a really weird religious shake.

But yah, I think it's a metaphor for the Christian Churchs coming back together as one church - as one of the signs of the End Times in Rapture mythology.

Question for you - how did you come to be so familiar with these boards?

I'm registered at RR, but am afraid to post due to my overwhelming desire to say what I actually feel about the narrow minded.

Also, my pain tolerance for this kind of drivel is kinda low - I end up getting headachs from attempting to understand their point of view. It's like talking to the worst of the people I used to avoid in church when I was a younger man.

I wouldn't mind posting in a fundy area if I knew of some science savvy people on that board.

I read the thread linked to by the_ignored above and am fighting the tempation to register. The painful throbbing in my temple, a residual effect of my blood pressure skyrocketing, is the only thing preventing me from doing so...

Question for you - how did you come to be so familiar with these boards?

It comes with the territory. I'm the webmaster of the webpage discussed in this topic, so I'm intimately familiar with the craziest fundamentalist corners of the net.

I acquired the links over the course of many months, as posters of those boards sent in quotes to my archive. Many of them have come and gone, too, such as the now-defunct yet legendary ILJ boards.

Heh. Yeah, that's why I refrain from posting there as well. That, and they've banned me repeatedly and probably have a "kill on sight" order for anything resembling my posting style.

I had that problem back in December 2002 or so, but I somehow spontaneously got over it. It no longer bothers me in the slightest. Perhaps I've just become desensitized to stupidity

MartinM, Phester, aeonflux, Spud, budddyh, PanTerra, csharpdotcom, and a few others are the resident science gurus at RaptureReady. I may have forgotten some additional people, though. However, they're pretty much outnumbered 20/1 by the fundies, as I said before.

I know of a smaller one that is an absolute riot, though there is some question as to whether its a spoof of fundies or whether it's legit.

I think it's a parody, but it's too good not be included. Added.

Another board that has some good spots but with a religion section that's just off the meter is "Above Top Secret." www.abovetopsecret.com

There's some gems in the dross, but we get influxes of people who are in serious need of some probing and others who are in serious need of a large dose of Reality.

The NWO fearing fanatics are fun, too.

I think I might. It's almost near the holiday break for me, and I will have some more free time.

I project I have planned for the next couple of weeks is to make somke 'ghost' pictures and post them here and there, and compare reactions. I might make a sock to do that there.
